Mitsumi demonstrates 8x DVD±R/RW in "MITSUMI SHOW 2004", Tokyo

Mitsumi demonstrates 8x DVD±R/RW in "MITSUMI SHOW 2004", Tokyo

General Interest Feb 6,2004 0

Mitsumi demonstrated its latest technical achievements in the "Mitsumi Show 2004", held in Tokyo, February 5-6. Although optical storage related products were not the only devices exhibited in the show, we focus on the upcoming DW-7806TE, 8x DVD±R/RW drive. In addition, the module "DW-78xxSE" was demonstrated and it will be available in the OEM market. With only 12.7mm height, the drive is mainly addressed for OEM notebook use. It supports 8X DVD±R and 24x CD-R recording. DVD-ROM and CD-ROM can be read at 8x and 24X, respectively.

Moreover, a reference design of a Blu-Ray optical pickup module was exhibited in the same booth. The company did not showed any plans for dual layer recording on DVD.
