LG Electronics will to apply a modularized structure to its next flagship smartphone called 'G6, which is expected to be released in 2017. LG released the G5 modularized smartphone in the end of March. With the phone's bottom part being separated, users could attach additional components such as an audio module or a camera module.

However the G5 has not been as popular as LG possibly expected, with the demand for all those extra accessories to be low. In addition, there were problems related the production yield of the complicated device.

LG hopes that the recently released V20 smartphone will enjoy the reflected benefits of the discontinuation of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 model.

It is rumored that the G6 will feature two now functions that were not met in previous LG smartphones.
