Consumer Electronics Jan 6,2005 0

Sigma Designs today announced that LG Electronics (LGE) (Korea Stock Exchange:6657.KS), will demonstrate its new 15" wireless liquid crystal display (LCD) TV, powered by Sigma's EM8620L media processor at CES 2005. The product will be demonstrated during the CES 2005 show at Sigma's Technology Suite in the Hilton Hotel, as well as in the Technology Zone of LG Electronics' booth. LGE's wireless LCD TV provides seamless media content from an external audio/visual (a/v) player or personal computer (PC), with the ease of wireless technology.

LGE's wireless LCD TV provides clean, aesthetic beauty and ease-of-use for consumers. From its thin and light footprint, to its crisp picture quality, the TV is also efficient with its low power consumption and convenient accessibility to content from an a/v player or PC. The TV allows the user to browse photos, listen to music and view movies and/or television programs.

"We're entering an age where the savvy media enthusiast prefers more than a standard television," said John Taylor, vice president, Public Affairs and Communications, LG Electronics. "This is an opportunity for companies like LGE, to seize the stage and provide unparalleled technology for the entertainment center of the home. By working with Sigma Designs, we were able to create a powerful, sleek, wireless LCD TV, enabling consumers to enjoy the full breadth of their entertainment libraries."

The new TV comes with consumer-friendly guides and menu software, providing a smooth experience for the viewer. Taking advantage of the Sigma media processor, the television supports playback of video streams in a wide range of formats, including MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and WMV9 as well as a most standard audio formats.

"The continued arrival of advanced products like LGE's wireless LCD TV into the consumer market validates Sigma's strength and foresight in the industry," said Ken Lowe, VP of strategic marketing, Sigma Designs. "LGE is a company that stays ahead of the game by providing technologically sound products with sophisticated styling."

Availability

LGE's wireless LCD TV is currently available in the Korean market. LGE intends to introduce the new TV to North America in March, and in July for Europe.
