Hulu To Brins Free Tv Episodes To Mobiles

Smartphones Apr 30,2014 0

Starting from this summer, mobile users will be able to watch selected full TV episodes for free without need of a Hulu Plus subscription. Until now, viewers have been able to access Hulu?s free service only on the desktop. Additionally, later this summer, Hulu will be launching the next generation of the Hulu Plus iPhone app.

Hulu Plus is now accessible on more than 400 million internet-connected devices in the United States, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Chromecast, and most recently, Amazon's new set-top box, Amazon Fire TV. It has surpassed 6 million subscribers, according to Hulu.

Hulu also announced tha it would roll out the first "In-Stream Purchase Unit" later this year with Pizza Hut. The unit will enable consumers to make an order for pick-up or delivery without ever leaving the Hulu environment.

In addition, the company will make its interactive ads available across every platform, including living room and mobile devices. Later this summer, Hulu will partner with Corona Extra across mobile devices.

Speaking at the Hulu Upfront event held Wednesday in New York, Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins said that among Hulu's original shows, "Deadbeat" has been granted a second season, while "The Awesomes," "Quick Draw," and "East Los High" have been given firm dates for their second-season debuts. Hulu's teen dance drama "The Next Step" lands in the US on May 28 and reality TV satire "Hotwives of Orlando" will hit Hulu viewers in July.
