Hardware Group reviewed OnStream SC30 Internal SCSI 30GB Drive

General Interest Jun 15,1999 0

".. I set up a test directory containing multiple sub-directories and 695MB of mp3's and a few exe's. After backing up the structure, I deleted the original test dir before restoring; figured this would be the best way to test. With compression enabled, I achieved a back up rate of 66MB/min and CPU usage was 100% (due to compression). Restore rate was close to the same at 65MB/min. Disabling compression sped things up quite a bit. Backup cruised along at 97MB/min and the uncompressed files restored at 87MB/min, CPU usage jumped around from 40%-80%.." NULL
