AMD congratulates Nintendo on the successful launch of the revolutionary Wii video gaming console. The AMD "Hollywood" graphics processor resulted in Nintendo delivering a brand new level of immersive gameplay and interaction for consumers in North America. "Nintendo's vision is to do something radically new and different with Wii - the technology hidden in the system allows us to deliver an intuitive and fun gaming experience in a silent and beautiful form factor," said Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America Inc. "Nintendo's new Wii video game system not only changes how people play games, but redefines how they interact with both the system and their televisions."

"Nintendo's fresh approach to the way people play video games is generating a tremendous amount of excitement around the world. The launch of the Wii is a great achievement for Nintendo and a win for gamers everywhere who finally get their hands on this exciting new video game system," said Dave Orton, executive vice president, Visual and Media Business, AMD. "Having powered the graphics in the Nintendo GameCube, AMD is delighted to strengthen its relationship with Nintendo as it drives the next revolution in video games with the Wii."
