Pioneer DVR-A07XL 8X DVD Writer available in the market

Pioneer DVR-A07XL 8X DVD Writer available in the market

General Interest Mar 3,2004 0

Pioneer today announces official the availability of its latest multiple format DVD writer. The DVR-A07XL provides the fastest multiple format drive available writing to 8x speed on DVD-R/+R and 4X on DVD-RW/+RW media. Pioneer’s Precision Recording Technologies have further improved writing performance to enhance multimedia and archiving applications while the unit incorporates ‘QuietDrive’ - a honeycomb design in the outer casing that reduces vibration from the drive mechanism. Together with performance adjusting firmware and a lack of integral fan, ambient noise from the DVR-A07XL is reduced by 75 percent.

The multiple format DVR-A07XL responds to the expectation of consumers and original equipment (OEM) manufacturers that DVD writers should support the principal DVD recording formats. Customer influence also initiated the design of the drive’s sound-reducing features. End user research suggested that operational noise is becoming increasingly noticeable on high-speed DVD writers. The noise is generated by vibrations caused as the DVD’s rotation speed accelerates to support faster reading / writing. The QuietDrive outer casing of the unit significantly dampens any vibration while sound proofing pads inside the housing also soak up excess noise. The design of the drive’s front bezel responds to the trend in consumer demand for contemporary and stylish PC hardware and is available in beige and black colour options.

“The DVR-A07XL sets speed benchmarks for writing to DVD-R/+R while tackling the problem of increased operational noise generated by faster write/read speeds,” observes Chris Tampsett, Senior Manager, Pioneer Europe NV, Multimedia Division. “The drive also incorporates a number of features - first introduced in the DVR-A05 - that we are continually improving to enhance writing and playback performance. With its quiet operation, high speed performance and writing accuracy the DVR-A07XL is a strong all round performer. Even with its competitive price, it shows that design integrity can be maintained in a market where the focus on cost is in danger of undermining the R&D that improves drive performance.”

The DVR-A07XL features Pioneer’s Precision Recording Technology - a range of innovations that improve DVD writing performance. Based on the results of the overwriting performance of a variety of DVD-RW discs, the drive utilises Distributed Real Time Defect Management (DRT-DM) that conforms to the DVD format without sacrificing write performance. DRT-DM supports recording under optimum conditions at all times by preventing the deterioration of media through repeated recording. Consequently, the DVR-A07XL ensures stable writing even on discs that are frequently rewritten and prevents recording errors caused by variations in disc quality. A Liquid Crystal Tilt Mechanism helps to ensure precise writing onto the surface of discs that have become warped or are of uneven thickness while an Ultra Dynamic Resonance absorber reduces the instability caused by damaged media. An additional feature of Pioneer’s Precision Recording Technology is the ‘smart laser driver’. The drive’s laser circuitry has been moved to the laser pick up assembly to prevent any signal distortion between the main board and the drive’s laser diode circuitry.

The DVR-A07 is bundled with a high quality software suite. This enables consumers to easily capture video and edit the footage and also provides DVD authoring, writing and playback functionality. The drive is available in March at an approximate price of €200.
