SONICblue introduces world's first DVD/VCR combo that allows users to control live TV

SONICblue introduces world's first DVD/VCR combo that allows users to control live TV

General Interest Jan 9,2003 0

SONICblue Incorporated (Nasdaq:SBLU), introduced the Go-Video® DV6430, the first product of its kind to incorporate live TV control with a DVD/VCR combo. The unit combines all the convenience of a DVD+VCR unit, with up to 10 minutes of Live TV control, giving users the ability to pause, rewind, instant replay, and slow-motion live television. "At SONICblue our goal is to produce products that help consumers to easily enjoy their entertainment no matter what their environment," said Ed Brachocki, vice president of product marketing, audio and video products, SONICblue. "With the DV6430's Live TV Control functions, consumers can now pause live TV or do their own instant replay of the game, all at the touch of a button. There's no monthly service fee, and it all works with their existing television and TV service! Combining this live TV control with the DVD and VCR, the Go-Video DV6430 offers consumers a better viewing experience and a variety of ways to connect with their entertainment, in one easy-to-use device."

Utilizing the integrated Live TV Control card, with 128 MB of RAM and a MPEG2 encoder chip, the Go-Video DV6430 gives users 10 minutes of buffered digital video, which allows them to pause, rewind, instant replay and slow-motion live TV. These features, which were first introduced as part of SONICblue's ReplayTV feature set, are not available in any other DVD+VCR unit and are included with no additional service charge or monthly fee. In addition, the DV6430 incorporates Go-Video's watch and record feature allowing consumers to watch a DVD or play a music CD while recording a TV show on the VCR, and seamlessly switch from one to the other with no interruptions.

In addition to the Live TV Control features, the Go-Video DV6430 also offers all the functions of an advanced DVD+VCR player. The DV6430's DVD utilizes progressive scan to deliver sharp, crisp video on digital TV and incorporates Dolby Digital and DTS Digital outputs. The DV6430 plays DVDs, music CDs, CDDA, and MP3 CDs on CD-R and CD-RW discs. The DV6430 also includes an advanced Four-Head VCR, for superior slow motion and stop action. Plus, the DV6430 features One-Touch copy, allowing users to copy unprotected DVD content to a videocassette with the touch of a button. The DV6430 comes with a unified remote that operates both the DVD and the VCR.

SONICblue will be showcasing the Go-Video DV6430 at the International CES show in Las Vegas, January 9-12, 2003. Please contact a SONICblue representative to arrange a demonstration at the show.

The Go-Video DV6430 Pricing and Availability

The new Go-Video DV6430 ($399 est. MSRP) is expected to be available on SONICblue's eStore (www.sonicblue.com) and in retail outlets throughout North America in Spring 2003.
