Xbox One wireless controller Adapter Coming To Windows PCs

Xbox One wireless controller Adapter Coming To Windows PCs

Gaming Mar 4,2015 0

Today at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox at Microsoft, unveiled that a wireless adapter for Xbox One controllers is coming later this year, enabling use on Windows without a USB tether. Spencer said that later this year, a wireless adapter will let you use current Xbox controllers and future devices wirelessly on your PCs.

It would be the first time Microsoft has made it easy to use any Xbox Controller wirelessly on Windows in years. The Xbox 360 controller had a wireless Windows model for a while, but Microsoft stopped making the adapter easily available a few years back, making it easier to buy a wired 360 controller instead.

Spencer added that all wireless Xbox gaming accessories will be designed for and supported on both Xbox One consoles and Windows 10 PCs moving forward.

In addition, Microsoft announced a partnership with Motiga to bring its first game, Gigantic, to Windows 10 and Xbox One. Gigantic is a five-on-five third-person battle arena game with a fantasy art style where you select from an array of heroes with distinctive powers and play styles and wield your way through an areas to defeat your opposition’s Guardian – while also protecting your own. Gigantic is optimized for both keyboard and mouse, and controller. Through the power of Xbox Live, Microsoft will enable cross-device play, and allowgamers to choose how they want to play.

Separately, Spencer also announced that Microsoft’s working hard to develop first-party games for its recently revealed HoloLens augmented reality headset. Developers who want first crack at HoloLens APIs can sign up for the Windows Insider program.
