Lenovo Brings Fingerprint Authenticated Payments To Laptops

Lenovo Brings Fingerprint Authenticated Payments To Laptops

PC components Sep 23,2016 0

Lenovo today announced a collaboration with Intel, PayPal and Synaptics to bring secure online payments to the personal computer with just the touch of a finger. The companies willwork together to bring enable Lenovo customers authenticate to online FIDO-enabled services like PayPal by using a fingerprint instead of a password.

This biometric authentication system for PCs will implement current FIDO standards, bringing established FIDO biometric authentication capabilities to the PC. Though verifying identity has long been the domain of passwords, they have become less safe to use without security factors in today’s digital world.

With the new Lenovo Yoga 910 featuring a 7th Gen Intel Core processor, buyers making purchases from their PCs will have access to enterprise-grade security measures without the use of passwords. The solution is FIDO-compliant and leverages the built-in security features of 7th Gen Intel Core processors; hardware and design expertise of Lenovo; the TLS 1.2 encryption and biometric features of Synaptics Natural ID fingerprint sensor; and the payment processing and unique authentication ecosystem of PayPal.

The goal is to make online authentication nearly frictionless with biometrics secured by built-in, hardware-level protection.
