Disctronics Blackburn completes IRMA anti-piracy compliance certification

Disctronics Blackburn completes IRMA anti-piracy compliance certification

General Interest Dec 13,2002 0

Disctronics Blackburn has completed the internationally approved anti-piracy standards developed by the International Recording Media Association (IRMA). The IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program (APCP) is well established in Europe, North America and Asia. "I am pleased that Blackburn has completed the "full house" for the Disctronics group. As the last plant in the group to be accredited we were able to benefit from the experience of our colleagues but to do this in 5 months from a standing start is a considerable achievement for the organisation in Blackburn" said Bill Beddows, MD of Disctronics Blackburn.

Disctronics Blackburn is part of the Disctronics group which includes CD/DVD facilities in the United Kingdom, Italy, France and the United States, which are already accredited plants in the APCP. For further details please visit http://www.disctronics.com

Including the recently certified Disctronics Blackburn plant, 37 facilities have earned and/or maintain Anti-Piracy Compliancy worldwide.

Thirty-three replication plants have applied for acceptance making a total of 70 plants in the Anti-Piracy Program. For a complete list of IRMA's official participating plants visit http://www.recordingmedia.org/antipiracy/antipiracy - status.cfm

Theo G. Köhler, European Director of the Anti-Piracy Compliance Program confirmed that the industry's first set of international anti-piracy standards for replicators is a major step in assisting record labels, movie studios, computer software and game content owners to identify replicators that have implemented a program to prevent the inadvertent replication of unauthorized pre-recorded media.

Köhler added, "Disctronics Blackburn joins the growing number of replicators in the Anti-Piracy Compliance Program. I am very pleased to welcome them as the fifth plant of the Disctronics group to receive the IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Award. The program is recognized as the industry's only certification program that helps manufacturers of pre-recorded media reduce the risk of publishing pirated material, thereby protecting the intellectual property rights of their customers on all audio, video and data carriers"

The IRMA Anti-Piracy Compliance Program was developed with input and support from the IRMA Anti-Piracy Coalition, comprised of optical media replicators, and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association (MPA), the Business Software Alliance (BSA), the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), the InteractiveDigital Software Association (IDSA) and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
