ASUS Announces Chromebook CM14 Series

ASUS Announces Chromebook CM14 Series

Consumer Electronics Mar 7,2023 0

ASUS today announced the newest additions to the ASUS Chromebook family — the 14-inch ASUS Chromebook CM14 and ASUS Chromebook CM14 Flip. With a fresh, stylish look and flexible designs these dynamic laptops are primed to boost productivity and empower fun, all day, every day.

Powered by an efficient MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor and with up to a 15-hour battery life, the new CM14 models deliver the freedom to stay productive throughout the day. These attractive, modern laptops also open a gateway to the best of Google, including the rich library of apps for work and leisure found on Google Play, and benefit from WiFi 6 for fast, stable connectivity at home, at the office, in the classroom or on the go.

With smooth performance, robust security and convenient features, these all-new ASUS Chromebooks are ideal for empowering seamless entertainment and productivity for everyone — and primed for remote work and learning.

Style and flexibility, elevated

The latest ASUS Chromebook CM14 models embody pure style, packaging a trendy look and feel in an attractive new colorway — Gravity Grey. This creates a refined aesthetic and elegance that will fit any environment, be it for study, work or relaxation,

The new laptops are also extremely versatile, making them a fine choice for the diverse demands of modern life. Chromebook CM14, for example, has a 180˚ lay-flat hinge that makes it easy to share visuals and ideas when working with friends, colleagues or clients. And Chromebook CM14 Flip elevates flexibility to the max, with a touchscreen display that can be rotated through a full 360°, enabling use in tablet, laptop, tent or stand mode — so it’s ideal for browsing websites, completing tasks and sharing content.

Chromebook CM14 Flip also benefits from a garaged stylus that features a new quick-release, two-way push-pop design that unleashes creativity and productivity. Just push to pop out the pen whenever it’s time to take notes, sketch or jot down those moments of inspiration. It also charges quickly and automatically when garaged, either way up — with a 15-second charge providing up to 45 minutes of use.

Everyday hygiene is also high on the Chromebook CM14 agenda, with the keyboard, touchpad and palm rest areas all protected by ASUS Antimicrobial Guard. This factory-applied treatment is scientifically proven to inhibit bacterial growth by up to 99% over a 24-hour period, keeping Chromebook CM14 series cleaner and safer — and promoting better overall user wellbeing,

Even the keyboard is resilient, with a spill-resistant design that can cope with up to 405 cc of water without harm. In other words, minor spillages can be easily drained, cleaned and dried, allowing the user to get on with their work or play.

Remote experiences, leveled up

ASUS Chromebook CM14 series has been engineered for the expanding world of hybrid work and study — and is equipped with lots of smarts to help users communicate and stay safe outside traditional work and learning environments.

These include Face Auto Exposure, or Face AE. This newly-integrated technology provides fresh, uplifting experiences when taking pictures or video conferencing with Chromebook CM14’s integrated webcam, tracking the user’s face and adjusting the light according to the brightness of the environment to ensure clearer, sharper images.

Privacy is also a big concern in today’s world of remote productivity and learning, so Chromebook CM14 series has an integrated physical shutter that simply slides over the webcam — empowering the user to shut off the outside world at any moment with a swift flick of their finger.

Everyday productivity, boosted

Powered by the latest MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor, ASUS Chromebook CM14 series delivers excellent performance for responsive experiences with favorite apps, from productivity tools to entertainment. Combined with the full capabilities of Google Workspace and other productivity apps found on Google Play, the new laptops offer access to everything needed to get stuff done in the modern world.

Moreover, an energy-efficient design means the new Chromebook CM14 models have the stamina to empower on-the-go productivity up to 15 hours on a single charge — or enough for a full work day and way beyond. They’re also primed for connection perfection, with integrated dual-band WiFi 6 to ensure stable signals and superfast speeds that will load online content in the blink of an eye. This desirable connectivity capability is boosted still further by exclusive ASUS technologies, including such as ASUS WiFi Master for ChromeOS, ensuring greater speed, stability and range — helping users to stay connected anywhere, fast.

Even the touchpad has been engineered to improve the user experience for maximum productivity. Measuring 5.8 inches across the diagonal, fingertip control is smooth, responsive and expansive.

The best of ChromeOS

ASUS Chromebook CM14 and CM14 Flip both benefit from out-of-the-box access to Google Play, replete with its rich library of apps, games, music, movies, TV, books and more — opening a whole new world of freedom.

The new models also orchestrate uninterrupted automatic updates and benefit from built-in virus protection, seamlessly keeping themselves safe, secure and always up to date.

Each purchase of a Chromebook CM14 or CM14 Flip carries an offer to redeem a 12-month Google One subscription. The membership includes 100 GB of cloud storage to use across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, plus many other benefits — all in one shareable family plan.

Military-grade strength

With structural reinforcements to boost chassis strength, the latest ASUS Chromebook CM14 series models are solidly built and provide durability for travels. They also meet the next-level and industry-leading US military-grade MIL-STD 810H US military standard, which is more demanding than ever before — providing reassurance that the laptops are ready for the rigors of the real world.

Additionally, the devices undergo stringent in-house testing by ASUS — including panel-pressure, shock and drop tests — for ensuring maximal toughness, so there’s no need to worry about everyday knocks and bumps. Sustainability is also embraced, with the inclusion of multiple recycled materials to create a product that is more environmentally considerate overall.

[i] Based on Chromium OS power Load Test. Battery performance is based on a mix of standby, web browsing and other use. Charging time requires the battery to be at least 5% charged, with the device inactive and using the included charger. Actual battery life depends on usage, specifications, applications and environment, among other factors.

[ii] Internet connection required. Google, Google Play, Chrome and Chromebook are trademarks of Google LLC.

[iii] Battery tests were conducted with stylus under continuous use. Actual battery life may vary depending on usage patterns and other factors.

[iv] The antimicrobial treatment is tested by an independent third-party laboratory according to the ISO 22196 standard (measurement of antimicrobial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces), using bacterial cultures that include Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, with antimicrobial activity (R) result of R > 2. R = 2 indicates a 99% reduction in bacterial activity compared to an untreated surface. The antimicrobial treatment is registered by the U.S. EPA and authorized under EU BPR.

[v] The ASUS Chromebook CM14 series keyboard is spill-resistant, not waterproof. Water damage is possible if the product is submerged or exposed to large amounts of liquids for long periods of time. ASUS standard limited warranty does not cover problems resulting from accidents such as water damage. To prevent water damage resulting from large spills or other accidents, ASUS recommends turning off the notebook, then tilting the laptop to drain away the excess liquid, wipe it off and let it dry for at least 24 hours.

[vi] ASUS Chromebook CM14 series is certified with ASUS WiFi Master for ChromeOS. Devices certified with ASUS WiFi Master for ChromeOS feature WiFi 6 and offer enhanced WiFi stability when USB 3.2 Gen 2 interference is present, allowing users to stream smoothly when they are up to 225 meters away or more from a router.

[vii] Auto-updates and auto-backup require an internet connection. Chromebook software updates generally arrive every 4-6 weeks but are occasionally delayed to ensure optimal user experience upon rollout.

[viii] Google One availability varies according to country. Please check with your local ASUS retailer for details.

[ix] The testing regime includes the requirements of military-grade standards, and varies depending on device. MIL-STD-810 testing is conducted on selected ASUS products only. Note that the MIL-STD-810 testing helps to ensure the quality of ASUS products but does not indicate a particular fitness for military use. The test is performed under laboratory conditions. Any damage caused by attempts to replicate these test conditions would be considered accidental, and would not be covered by the standard ASUS warranty. Additional coverage is available with ASUS Premium Care.
