Samsung to Roll Out New Mobile Accessories, Unveils New C-Lab Projects

Samsung to Roll Out New Mobile Accessories, Unveils New C-Lab Projects

Smartphones Oct 31,2016 0

Some of Samsung Electronics’ latest mobile and entertainment accessories, available exclusively online, will be rolled out in markets worldwide beginning in November. The company also unviled new six new spinoff projects from its Creative Lab Projects (C-Lab) program. The six accessories - currently available in Korea - range from wireless speakers and earphones to charging accessories.

Among the headliners of the online collection is the Wireless Speaker Bottle design. The speaker offers 360-degree surround sound sound, while wireless charging and a motion-sensitive UX make controlling and powering it a breeze.

When holding the speaker, for example, a water-pouring motion will adjust the built-in 16M-color LED lighting unit’s brightness, while a simple shake will change its color. The unit is customizable via the accompanying Lux Manager App, which allows users to find the perfect hue to accentuate both the moment and their mood.

The Wireless Charger Tray design allows users to top-up two devices at once (three if the cable charging port is used), and at just 17.8mm thick, is a subtle way to turn a desk, table or nightstand into a power hub. Charging begins as soon as a wireless-enabled device, such as a smartphone or the aforementioned Wireless Speaker Bottle design, is placed on top.

The Battery Pack Kettle design introduces a colorful take on mobile charging. Available in 5,100mAh and 10,200mAh variations, and a choice of coral pink or mint blue, the kettle-shaped battery features a LED status indication to keep tabs on remaining power, a wrist strap and kickstand cables that allow users to prop up their phones and enjoy media while they charge.

Users of the Battery Pack Kettle design will find that their batteries achieve further functionality when paired with the USB LED Light. Plug it in to the Kettle to transform it into a antern, or connect the light to other devices with USB ports for a portable lighting solution.

In addition to the Wireless Speaker Bottle design, Samsung has introduced the Wireless Speaker Scoop design: a compact speaker built for enjoying audio on the go.

Equipped with a strap, the Scoop’s splash resistance and understated design make it more than suitable for streaming both in and outdoors. Controls allow you to find your favorite tunes, while the built-in microphone and noise-reduction and echo-cancellation technologies mean users can field calls without reaching for their phone.

Lastly, the In-ear Headphones Rectangle design pack likewise powerful sound into another portable package. They feature a fabric-and-metal construction highlighted by a tangle-free flat fabric cable and DLM (double-layered motion) structured speakers.

Each of these accessories will be available for purchase at www.samsung.com or major regional shopping sites starting in early November.

New C-Lab Projects

Samsung’s Creative Lab Projects (C-Lab) is an in-house incubator program that helps Samsung's employees nurture their own creative business ideas and launch new startup companies.

After a series of project demonstrations, Samsung unveiled six new spinoff projects. And while Hum on!, Waffle, ItsyWatch, Ahead, LiCON and FITT360 each have unique functionalities, spanning the likes of mobile apps and social networking services to wearables, they have one important thing in common. These products each promise to enrich consumer’s lives and contribute to social prosperity.

Hum On! Is a mobile app designed to help people make their own music simply by humming. By converting a user’s humming into musical notation, Hum on! allows individuals to write music on any instrument.

Waffle is a social networking service that enables users to draw and leave doodles on another user’s wall. Users can then add stories or other visual content to make more fascinating and complex social artwork.

ItsyWatch is a wearable device for children to help them build good habits. The device, which gives kids an opportunity to care for their own virtual pets, is also designed to relieve parental stress and strengthen the emotional bond among family members.

Ahead is a communication device for helmet users, such as bikers, skiers and individuals who ride motorcycles. The device gives users a hands-free option that can replace mobile phones or walkie-talkies. The device also allows users to listen to music and receive voice notifications.

LiCON uses a smartphone camera to recognize and control Internet of Things devices. To use LiCON, consumers launch the LiCON app and take a photo of any smart device - from toys to bottles and appliances. The app is then launched instantly.

FITT360 is a wearable 360 degree camcorder that enables users to capture all surrounding scenes. In comparison to existing 360-degree cameras, which are large and inconvenient, FITT360 is hands-free and easy to use, allowing an individual to become fully immersed in VR content.
