Consumer Electronics Oct 1,2013 0

Silicon Image has made availabile the first 4K Ultra HD MHL 3.0 receiver featuring support for HDCP 2.2, the latest High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection technology that protects digital motion pictures, TV programs and audio against copying. DTVs, projectors, and A/V receivers that include the Silicon Image SiI9679 MHL 3.0 receiver are able to securely receive 4K Ultra HD commercial entertainment content protected under HDCP 2.2 technology.

The SiI9679 MHL 3.0 HDCP 2.2 receiver will sample in Q4 of 2013 and is targeted for mass production in Q1 of 2014.

In addition to supporting resolutions up to 4K Ultra HD and enhanced 7.1 surround sound with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, the SiI9679 MHL 3.0 receiver also enables connectivity to a wide variety of source devices by also being compatible with the MHL 1.0, MHL 2.0, HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 specifications.

HDCP 2.2 is interface independent and therefore is available and licensed for any interface choosing to adopt. Such interfaces include, but are not limited to: Intel Wireless Display (software v.2.1 or later), 802.11, USB, etc.
