On the other hand I thing brands can publish officially firmware to support DL. And they can charge the differance as upgrade cost...

Hardware might be the same....calibration for writing is not. Suffice to say - it still "works". ;)

As for my 812S, I decided to upgrade to latest official 812S firmware, but not to 832S firmware yet, since the DL DVD are not avalaible yet in France, (or at least, at 20 eur price). I am burning DVDs and CDs without a glitch, excellent burner ! See ya.

Can anyone please point me to the right file and tell me how to flash my Writer ? I am very new for that and my DVD Writer is new too , I bought it since 3 days ago , I mean the SOHW812S .
