Recently Plextor upgraded their old Plextor Manager 96 to Plextor Manager 2000. Does this upgrade bring to Plextor users new important features or not ?

History

Plextor had released old Plextor Manager96 in order users can setup their CD Roms/CDR/W better. With this you could change the speed of driven, the spindown time, enable AudioFS capability, check info of the CD and final play the AudioCD. Generally users of Plextor were pretty pleased with the Manager96. But Plextor wanted to give them more capabilities and decided to upgrade to Manager 2000.

Installation

Installation procedure is pretty simple. You run setup (need to have installed a previous version of Plextor Manager96) and after setup finishes you must reboot in order work. After reboot you will notice several changes to system.

Into task bar an new icon is added. From there you can launch the 3 mainPlextor Manager applications.

Plextor CD Rom icon is changed by a new one (Only into IE4 installed systems). Also the properties sheet is changed. 2 new tabs (Details & Settings) are added.

If you press right mouse button you will see new options are added : Play with MVP 2000 : Launches the MVP 2000 / Copy CD: Launches DiscDupe 2000. / Extract Audio : Launches Audio Capture 2000.

Plextor Manager 2000 applications: Plextor Manager 2000 is a suite of software applications for getting the most from your Plextor CD-ROM and PlexWriter drives. It includes:

- MVP 2000: A music/video player and recorder for Plextor CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW drive, including support for MP3.
- Audio Capture 2000 : Tool for capture music tracks from CD to your hard disk.
- DiscDupe 2000: Duplicate music, video, or data CDs.
- Drive Properties: Provide enhanced control and information for your drive and discs.
- AudioFS: Displays and makes available audio CDs to your operating system and applications as WAV files (data).

Old systems like Windows 3.x or MS-DOS, are also fully supported.

Supported drives:
CD-ROM drives: Models PX-4XCE, PX-8XCS, or higher.
CD-R/RW drives: Models PX-R412C, PX-R820T, PX-W4220T, or newer. Plextor Manager 2000 does not support Plextor MegaPleX jukebox.
