Pioneer will release next month in Japan the BDR-S08J Blu-ray disc drive, a high-speed BD/BDXL burner based on the BDR-208M model and capable of 15x resording with BD-R discs.

The drive will be available in Japan for about 23,000 Yen.

It is compatible with Sony's "nasne" networked Recorder and media storage device allowing Japanese users to burn digital terrestrial and satellite broadcasts to BD and BDXL discs.

The drive also features Pioneer's PURE READ3 + technology to cope with scratched audio discs and also special mode for quiet operation during video and audio playback.

The drive has been also designed to burn discs very fast, supporting 15x write with BD-R SL, 8x with BD-R SL LTH, 14x with BD-R DL, 8x with BD-R TL and 6x with BD-R QL discs. It is also compatible with DVD and CD formats.
