Pioneer BDR-208XJ BDXL Burner Supports 15x BD Recording

Optical Storage Oct 13,2012 0

Pioneer is pushing the Blu-ray disc burning speeds to their limits (or even higher?) with the release of the BDR-208XJ (BDR-208M), an internal drive that will burn BD-R disc at 15x and BDXL discs at 8x. The SATA drive supports 15x burning with BD-R, 14x with BD-R DL, 8x with BD-R TL and 6x with BD-R QL media. It is also capable of burning DVDs at 16x abd DVD R DLs at 8x. Burnign a BD-R SL (25GB) at 15x would be translated into a total recording time of about 8:40 minutes.

The drive is now available in Japan for about 12,000 Yen or $153.
