But, like many other "base" products... take the ATX computer case as a good example, there are so many different creative spins being implemented that it keeps things fresh. Today we will be taking a look at the latest external 3.5" hard drive enclosure from Kingwin in the Z1 Series 3.5" External Hard Drive Enclosure.

Overall these Kingwin Z1 hard drive enclosures are of good quality and the kit includes everything you need to get up and running other than the hard drive itself. The ability to use wither USB 2.0 or e-SATA is a nice option if you're switching between maybe a main rig with e-SATA and an older rig with only USB ports.

Kingwin has a solid performer in the Z1. Ease of use, good looks, and choice of colors adds up to a winning combination. I had no problems installing a drive, and it was immediately recognized by Windows. Driverless installation makes things easy (except for you Windows 98 users??.c'mon, upgrade to XP at least, you luddites!).

There can be no doubt that the FinePix Z1 is a great looking camera, and it will appeal to the fashion conscious social photographer. It has extremely fast performance, is easy to use and sufficiently robust to survive living in a handbag or coat pocket. It's just a shame that the image quality doesn't live up to the Z1's gorgeous exterior...
