With five eye-catching colours to choose from we are sure the FinePix Z20fd will suit inexperienced digital camera users looking for a sub-£100 camera. This fun, affordable and metal-bodied model could also make the perfect gift for teenagers looking for their first camera. The only disappointments are the average photo (purple fringing is evident and colours are oversaturated) and video quality, as well as the annoying lens cover which adds a little bulk and tends to slide open when travelling.

While not as high-performing a D-SLR camera, the s8100fd has a lot of good things going for it, including the price.

OK everyone, you can stop emailing me; it's here at last, the much-requested review of the Fujifilm FinePix S8000fd. I've had more enquiries about this camera than anything else in the last few months. If everyone who's asked me about it buys one, I think I'll buy shares in Fujifilm.

The Fujifilm FinePix S6500FD was introduced at the end of 2006 for a MSRP of ?370 ($500). Nowadays you can get this dSLR-like camera for ?270 ($365), which is incredibly low if you see what it's capable of.

Well it looks like Fuji has done it again, because this week I'm taking a look at the replacement for the S5600, the new S5700 (how do they come up with these names?). It offers the same 10x zoom capability, but now adds 7.1 megapixels, a 2.5-in monitor and a new intelligent flash system, and you can get all of this for under £130. How is that even possible?

It's been a few months since I last reviewed one of Fujifilm's F-series cameras, in fact it was January and the camera was the FinePix F31fd. I have to admit I like the F-series cameras a lot. For the most part they have managed to combine cutting-edge technology, solid build quality and excellent photographic results in a stylish and compact package. There aren't many brands that have been so consistently good for so long.

Unlike other current digital SLRs, in fact unlike most other digital cameras in general, in developing the S5 Pro Fujifilm has forgone the boost in megapixels that normally accompanies a model upgrade and concentrated instead on other factors to improve picture quality, such as colour rendition, dynamic range and smoother tonal gradation.

In design as well as decor the Z5fd is born for the clubbing lifestyle. Measuring a trim 92.8 X 55 X 19.4mm and weighing only 148g it's small and light enough to qualify as ultra-compact, and will slip unobtrusively into a handbag or shirt pocket. When not in use the lens is protected by a sliding cover that doubles as the on/off switch, so it's not going to be easily damaged if it has a close encounter with your pink Motorola RAZR or the lighter for your menthol cigarettes.

Launched last July at the same time as the S6500fd, the F20 is a 3x zoom compact which features a 6.1-megapixel SuperCCD HR sensor, 2000 ISO maximum sensitivity and 300-shot battery duration. In other words, it's almost the same specification as the FinePix F30, the camera that first showed us the benefit of Fuji's unique high-ISO capability. The F20 is currently available for under £110 from a number of retailers...

Digital SLRs are steadily dropping in price, which has increasingly made them an option for non-professional photographers. However, this affordability does not necessarily mean they are the best choice of camera, especially if the photographer is used to the flexibility and convenience that compact digital cameras can offer. The FinePix S9600 (128x93x129mm, 645g) fills the gap between two worlds by combining the usability of a compact with performance that can almost challenge an entry-level digital SLR.

Back in November 2005 I reviewed the Fujifilm FinePix S9500, and to say I liked it is something of an understatement. I seriously considered selling my digital SLR - at the time a 6-megapixel and very dust-prone Pentax *ist D, and buying the S9500 instead. I didn't, as it turned out, because I ended up getting a Sony A100, but it really was that good, as many satisfied customers will attest. Because of that success, in August last year Fuji announced the replacement for the S9500, and surprised nobody by naming it the S9600. It has also proved to be extremely popular, particularly with reviewers, which is why it's taken me until now to get my hands on one.

In appearance the F31fd is, unsurprisingly, virtually identical to the F30, with only the addition of a small rubberised grip on the front panel detailing, and an extra label on one of the rear panel buttons - which activates the Face Detection system - to tell the two models apart. It has the same strong all-metal body finished in a attractive anodized semi-matt texture, the same 3x zoom f/2.8 ? f/5.0 Fujinon lens, and the same 230,000 pixel non-reflective 2.5in LCD monitor as its older sibling.
