Kingwin is one manufacturer that recognizes that performance is important, but individuality is high on the list of desired features with many computer enthusiasts. Most of the products they manufacture are very eye-catching, and this is an understatement when looking at their new Mach 1 800W Power Supply, model number ABT-800MA1S. This unit is rated for 800W continuous output, has rather unique modular cables, and has many blue lights throughout.

Kingwin is a Taiwanese manufacturer of computer components that recently launched a new line of heatpipe CPU coolers. They have provided two of their newest CPU coolers for review, models KA-9225 and KA-9227, and they just might fit the bill for inexpensive, reliable cooling with a bit of style!

Kingwin has updated their line up to include a new enclosure (the JET Model JT-35EU-BK) that supports a SATA hard drive that can connect via both eSATA and USB. Taking it one step further, this unit also includes a one touch back-up feature which can allow you to keep your precious data in two locations.

The modular cables included are each sleeved very well with the heatshrink tubing butt up right to the edge of the connectors. The only exception being the main motherboard cable which has about a 2" gap between the heatshrink and the 20+4 pin connector. This must be to allow for greater flexibility since this bundle is often rather stiff without extra wrappings.

The review I am doing is on a midtower case by Kingwin, the SK-523-BKWBC. Based upon the picture on the shipping box this case looks to be sleek and stylish in design with just the right amount of flair for those not much into flash, like me. Kingwin offers this case in Black or Silver, and with or without the side window. I received the the black version with side panel window...

The Kingwin SK-523 does live up to its slogan, "performance with style." But nothing is ever perfect. There are always quirks, however minor, that bring the marks down from a perfect 10. And these quirks are minor and could be shrugged off. The inadequate lock for the front door would only be a concern at a LAN or place of business where security is paramount. The poor manual isn't such a big deal. I mean, who ever reads them anyway? Especially for a tool-less case! And the custom CCFL in front would make modding a bit more difficult, but not impossible...

With fan speeds ranging from 1380 to 2820 rpm (according to the LCD panel) the AquaStar definitely qualifies as a "quiet" cooling solution. And while performance isn't stellar, it is most respectable. Add a plethora of features generally only found on water coolers costing 2 or 3 times the price of the AS-3000 and a target market just itching to get into water cooling at a reasonable price...you have yourself a winner...
