With Activision and Blizzard merging recently some games got lost in the changeover and Wet was one of them ... however Bethesda Softworks came to the rescue and took over the reigns earlier this year. Developer A2M (Artificial Mind and Movement) have created a rather violent third person shooter title which unfortunately failed to impress this reviewer long term.

Call of Duty 4 has it all. Take a great single player campaign, mix that with some of the best multiplayer to grace the Xbox 360, and add some awesome graphics and sound as desired. You'll end up with Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360, some of the most fun you can have sitting on your couch this year. I've always been a fan of First Person Shooter games, ever since I first picked up Wolfenstein 3D for my old 286. I've spent a lot of time playing multiplayer in shooters, and its rare one actually gets it right.

Call of Duty's switch to the modern era has bought it back to winning form with a blast. Superbly paced and pumped with adrenaline, it's the all-action blockbuster to beat.

Overall, there are a few flies in the ointment of Call of Duty 4, but none are big enough to prevent this from being a great game. The main thing I felt the game was lacking was the ability to dive for cover as there are a few areas of the game where you have no choose but to dodge bullets and move between cover. At those times, navigation can be a little difficult and you can easily get the process of sprint, stop, duck a little bit wrong.

On November 6th, Call of Duty 4 hit the shelves and arrived by mail in droves. After reserving a copy at Best Buy (I thought it would be wise given the success of the Demo), I found that after picking up my copy that there were only 10 left reserved for others. That's all they had left by the end of the day out of several hundred copies for console and PC alike. COD 4 naturally follows suit and takes place in Europe and the Middle East. This time around, all of the action is completely fictitious but follows along the lines of some popular movies such as Black Hawk Down.

For the mass audience and for casual gamers out there with money to burn, Transformers does the job well enough, but for the hardcore gamer or the Transformers enthusiast, Transformers will quickly leave you wanting and, in our opinion, you'd be better off dusting off your old Megatron and Optimus Prime toys and going to play in your own sandbox. And don't pretend that you don't still have those toys kept somewhere safe in mint condition - we know you do.

Here's the good stuff. The modelling and animation of the various 'robots in disguise' is exceptional. The way the camera barrels up and down as it follows behind them, a bit like the great shakey-cam in Gears of War, gives them a real sense of weight and power. Watching Bumblebee turn into a yellow sports car or Optimus Prime transform into a truck may be enough for the most nostalgic lovers of the old cartoon to justify the buying price.

While a fair amount of effort went into making Spiderman 3 look the part of a next gen title, little else can be said that separates it from its former gen console predecessors.

The main story of the game, as you can surely guess, follows the same plot as the movie, but Treyarch knew this wouldn't be enough and thankfully, gave many parallel side missions with famous villains from the comic books too, keeping the spider within all of us contempt. Overall, that's forty-two different missions, without counting the extra challenges like skydiving and such spread out throughout the city. But will you actually want to finish these numerous missions? Well, the answer might surprise you?

Spider-Man 3 isn't a very good game, to put it bluntly. There's a lot to be done in the PC version, from collecting tokens to thwarting super villains, but a lot of it feels too hamfisted to be enjoyable. The camera issues that plague the PC version aren't such a big problem for the Wii, but there are still massive issues hampering the gameplay on either platform. The two versions offer different pros and cons, so it's only fair to judge the two versions separately despite the almost identical plot and engine.

This slant is reflected in the new Xbox 360-powered visual style. Project 8 is brighter and breezier this time around, it's streets, parks and gardens bursting with vivid colour and luminous lighting. While the 3D horsepower of Microsoft's beast is obvious in the detailed textures and realistic character models, not to mention the soft glows and focus-blur effects that pop in from time to time, there?s not too much background clutter or shiny-surface excess.
