Laffin Assassin, Do you have any thoughts on what I could try next in my attempt to copy this disk? I am on this forum looking for help. I am not trying to irritate or upset anyone. I have back up over 25 games but, for some reason, hardware, software, or user error I cannot seem to backup this disk. Thanks!

Tron, I tried that last night and all I got was another coaster. I copied many disks but not this one.

Hi, This is a wild shot in the dark but it sounds a little like the problem I had the other week….?
Use ClonyXXL to scan the cd, Select Start Clonecd and then Read to image. When you are asked to select your writer, right click over your writer icon, select settings and `check`(select) the Enable read Subchanel data from….ect,ect….?(3) options in total…
Not sure if this will help but it’s worth a try…I found out that i needed to select these options after I last updated Clonecd..??? And produced lot’s of coasters…..????
Let us know how you get on….
Good Luck…

Hi dt05928
Don't worry it's not you who is is trying to irritate or upset anyone it's others !
Now down to your problem
The way I would do it would be !
1> Change your Computer Region to Canada so that you can use AWS & Hide cdr Media and Clone CD should use them automaticly!
2> Uninstall Clone CD and re-boot your computer !
3> Re-install Clone CD v4.0.1.9.
4> Make sure you have Clony v2.0.0.6 and and install it then make sure you go to Scan Options on the top right and make sure only the top 2 are ticked run Start Scan with your Original CD in the Writer and let it fully run!
5> When it has finished Scanning just click Start Clone CD.
6> When Clone CD loads click Write to Image and when that comes up select Use Clony Settings icon and write the image to your hard-drive.
7> When it has written the Image replace the Original CD with your CDR and then click on Write from an Image click on use Clony Settings Icon load the Image you have just made and let it burn !

I hope this helps but please let us know either way. And after all this I forgot to ask even though you can't copy this one can you still copy others, this is just the easyiest way to make sure the Hardware is not faulty!

Laffin Assassin, I did what you said verbatim. Unfortunately it did not work. I burned a disk that has safe disk2 and it burned perfectly. The problem, I believe has something to do with this new securom. Again your help is always appreciated.

Hi dt05928
Oh well mate we tried ! I did it the way I mentioned with my TDK 401248B and that has a Lite-on inside and it did it with no problem. I also tried it with my Yamaha 3200e in another computer and that also worked fine. I just hope for your sake it is not some sort of Hardware failure ! It may just be an issue with the 24x Lite-on but we will have to see if anyone else managed it with one and how they did it and which firmware they had !
I am sure someone will let us know !

Just one other thought have you tried it with different media as some Lite-on's are very picky with certain media. I have had success with Ritek's 32x Unbranded with both my Drives but some people don't like them but they are worth a try surely !

Someone having a bad day? The way that I told you works for me. I have no use for Cloney anymore. I never said that it is not the way to go, I think Cloney works fine for beginers. It tells people a lot, but after you use it for a while you find that you can do without it. I was not flaming you at all, just felt that you were saying something that I did not agree with, and the last time I checked we were allowed to have our own opinions here on this board. You are a very knowlegable member and the way you posted should work, but I offered another option that should work too since it worked for me. So relax and lets just all get along. The lol was meant to lighten the message not to piss you off....... Lighten up bud....

Laffin Assassin, I have tried two different media types so, I do not believe it is the media. You suggested that is might be and issue with a 24x Lite-on. I wonder if anyone has burned the new Securom with a 24x Lite-on.

Yes Tron has managed it but with you trying his way and my way of copying and it is still not working with your Drive that is what makes me think it has got to be either a media Issue, or a Hardware Issue with the new SecuROM but recently there has been a lot of people with problems with 24x Lite-on.

Hey Tron
Can you post your exact settings that you had success with please ! As you know I have already posted mine and it will not work on his drive. But if you post yours I am sure he will give it a try !

I knew you were having a bad day by how quik you got mad, I really did not mean to piss you off..... We are always buds! We can squable once in a while...lol.... Big hug for everyone! Ok back to the problem at hand.....What is strange is that I have that same drive as he does. I just make sure that the "Read Subchannel Data", and "Read Audio Data" are on, and set "Fast Error Skip" to auto with all else off. Then in the write section I make sure that the "Close Disk" and "Do not repair subchannel Data" are marked and then "Amplify weak Sectors" is NOT marked. I left everything to max as far as read and write speeds and mine worked fine. I am wondering if you need to change firmware on that drive. What firmware are you using?

i also have the liteon 24x and it is definitely NOT one of the liteons that are picky about media. i have two friends, one with a 32x liteon and one with a 40x liteon and they both burned it with no problem using clony and clone4. both were using fujifilm media by taiyo yuden.

i made a perfect burn using clone 3.3.4.1 and manually setting it to read subchannel data from data and audio, no fast error skip (this could be the problem) and burning with only 'always close last session' selected. i think perhaps clone4 uses too many settings in its attempt to be 'all things to all men'.

Everyone: I think that I have discovered what the problem is with not being able to burn NWN might be. During the read process, everything goes fine until about 90%. At 90%, the time remaining goes up to 58 minutes. It has only taken me 10 minutes to get to the 90% remaining, burning at 8x.

I have never had this happen before with other games but it happens with this disk. This just started to happen last night. I believe the burner might be having a problem. This leads me to believe that the burner might be a fault. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Again, I must ask, what firmware you are using? Also are you reading the disk with your burner? To prevent coasters I would be doing this on CDRWs too, untill we sort this out. After we get a good copy you can burn it to a CDR.

I have tried baking Up neverwinter nights in my LITEON 24x10x40x burner and have had no luck. However with the same settings I backed it up perfectly with my old sony CRX140e

It appears that it is a reading problem as the LITEON drive takes forever to read the cd however the sony just eats it up the sony drive can make and image in about 10 to 12 minutes. The sony drive made successfull backups at read speeds of 8x and 24x. I have notice also with other games that use SecuROM that the LITEON has had problems with reading the image.

I will try reading the image with the sony and burning it with the LITEON and see if it works and will return with the results.
