Can you share where you purchased those ritek G04 disks from, and how much you purchased them for
thank you
Ian

You can find the Ritek G04 DVD-Rs in the Pioneer 4x DVD-Rs.

The one's I sell go for $7.00 (Canadian Dollars), though I'm sure you can get them in the U.S. for cheaper. If you live in or near California you can buy direct from Ritek, I think minimum order might be as low as 200pcs ??? or possibly 500pcs not 100% sure.

Here we go again with the fake media ID's. How do you guys feel about this going on. I got into burning right when the 4x standard came out so i wasnt really in on what all went on with princo and the fake TDK ID's. I have heard numerous reports of the princo disks not being able to be read a few months down the road which would tell me they are verry shoddy quality.....is this going to be the case with the princo 4x media as well? I was looking forward to the genuine 4x ritek disks coming down in price...but now it will seem that they will be impossible to distinguish from the "fakes" that princo is producing, since i beleive ritek disks are also silver topped. Anyone else have a take on this matter? Im also looking for some decent priced (less than $1.50 1x or 2x blanks) anyone have a reputable source for them? I ordered previously from meritline.com and was NOT impressed. thanks all
Ian

Hrm, I wouldn't trust Princo DVD-Rs at all! especially on a Pioneer A05!!

BTW: Pioneer 4x DVD-Rs are made by Ritek...in case it wasn't known. I'm surprised to see them selling for 11.99 at Canada Computers!!

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (2/5/2003 8:08:02 PM)

at some point, i don't want to go cheap and buy low quality dvd-r anymore

will find some good deals in HK later :)

wanton74 -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/4/2003 7:21:47 PM)

Wierd thing is happening i had problems with my DVR-A05 it just jammed during burning randomly if you burned like 15 dvd-r's all sure drive jammed and i had to reboot or power off to get it working again so i took it to Pioneer Finland they got me a new drive but this drive is DVR-105 and now all cheap media i have with ritek 1x id codes Infiniti&Neo Premium didn't work with my new drive. Burning stopped at the end of dvd-r with error during burning or verify and those dvd-r's that whent through end of dvd-r was unreadable on dvd-rom readers that i tried. Both had same firmware 1.21 old drive could burn all cheap brands i tried datasafe white tops and those infiniti and neo premium data safe has diffrent code than infiniti or neo premium. Only datasafe dvd-rw's didn't work at all horrible reading problems with dvd-rom readers and dvr-a05 could read them barely there where some datasafe dvd-rw that even dvr-a05 couldn't read.

So odd that bulk model (dvr-105) that pioneer gave me back seems to be diffrent and only works on expensive media atleast doesn't work with ones with ritek 1x id codes. But i have heard that cheap 4x media works fine with dvr-105 it's probably just problem with ritek 1x id code media. I didn't have datasafe white tops anymore after my drive changed so i haven't tested it but tomorrow i get shipment of samsung 1x dvd-r's but those are branded dvd's so they probably work just fine. But still it's really odd that A05 and 105 is diffrent i've contacted pioneer about this but haven't got any response yet

Ritek 1x id code

00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 87 0E 13 .B...@....P.....
88 99 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.

wanton74 -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/4/2003 7:37:45 PM)

So could you people post which one you are using DVR-A05 or DVR-105 when you are posting that which media works and what doesn't. Drive's read DVR-A05 or DVR-105 on top of the drive and DVR-A05 has pioneer logo in front and DVR-105 doesn't.

Costas -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/5/2003 12:03:14 AM)

Is there really a (hardware) difference between those two? I believe not (well apart from the logo on the front panel[;)])

deep9 -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/18/2003 6:31:23 PM)

Just bought Discrite 1x (Princo) anyone know if they are any good? or just crap like all other princo media?

And how do I check what id string they have?

Blob -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/19/2003 1:57:19 AM)

Download a program called ADVDinfo And select "OE - Pre recorded Information in Lead In" from the drop down list. - I found it by searching on google. Very simple to use, u may have to get ASPI 1.60 as I think newer aspi layers are not supported by this proggy. I downloaded ForceASPI. It included everything I needed to kill my old (new version 1.71a) Aspi layer and install 1.60.

Hope this helps

Blob -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (3/19/2003 2:02:27 AM)

One more thing I think Discrite are crap discs - I may be wrong, But Im pretty sure they were what I was using, and I was getting some pretty dodgy burns (Check out my post http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9358 )

I've just ordered 50 Verbatim 2x DVD-r's from 121cdr, They worked out about £1.50 per DVD.. Think they extra 60p a disc or whatever is worth it if I get flawless burns. I'd be interested to know if anyone has used these discs sucessfully/unsuccessfully

Dolphin,

How can I order directly from Ritek (I live in Texas)? Is the price much much cheaper than in stores or on the Internet?

Dolphinius_Rex -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (4/1/2003 8:45:55 AM)

aris1978: The price is much cheaper then buying retail, but you have to purchase within their minimum quantities. I'm not sure what this quantity is currently, as I have not spoken to Ritek in a couple months, and I know they were changing things around when I last spoke to them.

Here is some contact information for Ritek U.S.A. also, if you look on the main Ritek Webpage, the e-mail address listed for Ritek U.S.A. is no longer accurate, and doens't lead anywhere [:I]

Not all pioneer 4x disc's are Ritek G4.
If you buy Pioneer disc's in Europe the change is bigger then nine out of ten that you get Pioneer made media.

The Ritek media is good.
However the home made Pioneer media is excellent. (Better as Ritek G04)

john -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (4/1/2003 3:07:24 PM)

What about Princo 4X?
