Volcane -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (12/28/2002 1:29:11 AM)

using gen 4 green bulkpaq's I get pretty regular CRC errors above around 4gig, I am not 100% sure where the cut off is yet, but 3 disks now have given CRC errors on the last file on the disk, files were around 400meg each.

lol..
well, Pioneer might be dirty.

But what Princo did on the newer batches of Greentop is simply changed the MF ID to Maxell instead.

lol?

oh well...

Hello again. As far as it concerns me, I have tested the Creation media v.2.0 with the v.1.21 firmware and I have to report some progress. As far as it concerns the previous firmware (v.1.0)recordings, the whole disk had CRC errors on the verification process. With the newest firmware, only the part of the disk after 94% (that's about the 4,0 Gb mark) space had verification errors (file not accessible[B)])... I haven't had the time needed to perform more tests with other media, but hopefully, I'll come up with more news on the subject in the next days...

ReggieUK -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (12/30/2002 3:31:40 AM)

I found this website www.dvdwriters.co.uk and if you check the news on the main page it mentions the firmware update to 1.21 and also gives a list of media that I presume works with the drive.

hello,

has anyone tried the new ritek 4x media? Saw some mentioned here: http://www.cdr-by-mail.co.uk/acatalog/CDR_By_Mail_DVD_R_21.html and also saw some on sale for £2.20 today, but didnt buy any until I got some reports from elsewhere on them.

john -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/19/2003 12:16:07 AM)

Not me yet, we cannot find 4X DVD-R media here, yet!

MT_MEDIA -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/19/2003 3:59:28 AM)

Have tested the new ritek G04's. Under both Traxdata and Datawrite branding (same disc). Works like a charm... :)

I guess we're still stuck here with 1x & 2x DVD-R media... Well, atleast they're cheap (2,5 euros each)...[;)] I don't worry... by next Christmas I guess we're all gonna have cheap 4x media[:p]

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/28/2003 5:37:10 PM)

finally finished reading this thread
i've tested burning Princo at 1x with 1.00 FW on A05

100% burnt success, but the disc seems to be unreadable!

is it safe to see that upgrade FW 1.21 will solve this problem?

looking at this list now http://a05.halifrag.com/umlist.php
good list

Costas -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/28/2003 6:00:15 PM)

Kevychan, I guess you have no choice but to upgrade. This firmware doesn't heal everything, but surely is a step forward. I advise you to take it. BTW, I haven't bought any of these (PRINCO media 1x) since I first got the A05 of mine. If you finally upgrade please repeat the process and tell me if it burns ok with the newer firmware.[8)]

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/28/2003 7:06:11 PM)

if you have recordnow max 4.5/6? you might like to try it too

i have read somewhere that the program allows to burn princo 1x dvd-r at 2x...

don't know if it is valid or not

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/29/2003 8:04:02 AM)

here are the results
upgrade to FW 1.21
used RecordNow MAX 4.5 burnt at 1x (ISO)

ran Nero CD Speed
-----------------
the disc failed at L-CE Uncorrectable error around 80% (3.5 on x-axis)

whereas i used the same disc that burnt by FW 1.00
the disc failed at L-CE Uncorrectable error around 50% (2.0 on x-axis)

I will try get Ritek instead

Costas -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/29/2003 5:43:23 PM)

There's a progress the way I see it [:D]

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (1/31/2003 7:55:33 AM)

tried a princo 2x compatible dvd-r disc today
burnt same data, same program, at 2x
FW 1.21

Manufacturer : TDK
Code : TDKG02000000
Disc Type : DVD-R
Usage : General
Recording Layer : -
Recording Speed : 1 X - 2 X
Capacity : -

Additional Capacity : -
Overburn Capacity : -

burn and verify success 100%
BUT...but when used the nero cd speed test
the result is not ideal

at the beginning, the speed is 2.0
at the end it drops to 1.0

so this type is not good for movie playback
is only good for data storage, like avi / mp3

kevychan -> RE: Pioneer a05 Media compatibility list (2/3/2003 12:43:40 AM)

tested with this disc

Manufacturer : RITEKG04
Code : -
Disc Type : DVD-R
Usage : General
Recording Layer : -
Recording Speed : 1 X - 4 X
Capacity : -

Additional Capacity : -
Overburn Capacity : -

can reach up to 6x in nero cd speed test, great for movies and PS2

and cost is cheap!
