i have problem with update the firmware. The instal prog tell me i should install adaptecs aspi, but it is already instaled.

Well the first thing I would suggest is that you download my ASPI FIX from :-
http://hometown.aol.com/mp3mogul/aspi.zip
Just follow the Instructions that are included and it should cure your problem !!! [:)]

I seem to have a common problem. I have a Compaq Presario system with the Phillips CDD4801 cd r/rw burner and it does not recognize a data disc being present. An audio CD is recognized, however the playback sampling seems way off.

Is there any help for this drive or do I buy a new one.

Sorry, I saw the file after i posted. I ran the program and now I can't boot at all. Any ideas what to do next?

The most important part of my ASPI FIX are the instructions that come with it just make sure you read them and follow them exactly !!! [:)]

Mr. Laffin Asassin,

You know your stuff! I though think that I am one of the few this doesn't work on. I've Flash'd my PCRW804 up v2.5cvt. Still nothing from Win XP. Using Nero's InfoTool I know it sees the drive correctly it even tells what kind of drive and at what speed it reads and writes. Win XP also tells me this info in Control Panels. But alas, I cannot read or write with that drive.

You helped me with that ASPI fix to downgrade to ASPI 4.60 so I could Flash the drive up to 2.5cvt, maybe you can offer some more help. By the way, after I updated the firmware, I tried the drive on ASPI 4.60 with no luck as well as 4.7.1

Laffin, I would appreciate your patch. I encountered this problem about 5 months before and was able to solve it but now I cannot. I cannot even see my CD-ROMs in WIN 2K Explorer. It has ocurred to both my Samsung SD 612 and my PCRW 804. So any advice you have I would appreciate.
