Force aspi is way better than Aspifix!!!

Aspifix uses adaptec's aspi-layer 4.60(build:1210)
Force aspi uses also adaptec's aspi-layer 4.60(build:1210)

Why use Force Aspi??
=>you can completly remove your current aspi drivers(to remove probs)
=>you can install the new aspi drivers very simple
******************************************************************
Download Force Aspi 1.7 at: http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/downloads/frcASPI17.zip

When you unzip the file I Recommand you:

1) Run the file: Killaspi.bat
2) Run the file: Instaspi.bat
3) THEN RESTART YOUR COMPUTER
4) After restart you have a working aspi layer, for 100%

********************************************************************
I have tested this and it works fine: all os'es(Win95-98-Me-Nt-XP)

I have tested aspiFix, and that won't worked well under Win200, I can tell you!

Do never install a newer aspi-layer than 4.60, because this is the best, every single program support it, and no this aspi layer is not out-to-date, aspi4.71.2 uses winaspi 4.60 to (2 of the 4 files)

A very good site over aspi-layer is: http://aspi.radified.com/

Everyone use ForceAspi it won't dissapoint you, do it acoording to my instructions between the stars and you be a happy man, damn yeh!!!!

Big thx to Force Aspi!

Update on my previous 2 reviews I found out, that the best thing to do with Force Aspi 1.7 is:

1) Run the file: Killaspi.bat
2) Restart your computer!
3) If you get an eror, ignore this
4) Run the file: Killaspi.bat AGAIN !
5) Run the file: Instaspi.bat
6) Now Reboot your system!

This is the way, to COMPLETELY REMOVE YOUR ASPI AND INSTALLING THEM AGAIN, ALL YOUR ASPI PROBLEMS ARE NOW SOLVED!

I never would have guessed I'd have so much company in my trouble with my PCRW804![;)] I'm having a similar problem as the rest of you, but different. My computer just suddenly stopped recognizing the cd-burner's existence two days ago, both in BIOS and in My Computer. Running the Add New Hardware Wizard finds nothing, and Win98SE doesn't autodetect any new Plug-and-Play devices.

I downloaded the fix from the FAQ, but everytime I run it, I get an illegal operation, and it quits. When I click Close, another error dialog box which I've never before seen comes up telling me that what the .exe was trying to do was going to be in effect too restrictive for my computer?

Anyone got any ideas? We use this thing to burn CDs at our studio, and so right now a whole lotta really good music is pilin' up! Help!

thank you!

Hi Laffin Assassin!

Me too is having problems with the Philips PCRW804. The problems are similar to those that you say your fix might help. I would therefore greatly appreciate it if you could e-mail me a copy! [:)]

I've tried your link to www.avasay.net, but I get redirected to a page where I find no fix.

The patch I have got is a lot easier to use and it Does work on any version of Windows including XP And after you have applied the patch you can upgrade your ASPI with Adaptech's own Aspi anytime if you need to.!!! It has already helped loads of other Philips users and it may help you look at :-
http://www.cdrinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=1&ARCHIVEVIEW=&TOPIC_ID=5041
And make your own mind up and it does work for other brands of CD Writers with the same problem !!!
But as I say please post a request in this thread.
All you have to do is unzip it into a folder on your hard-drive and follow the Instructions in a txt file in the folder and it should hopefully sort your ASPI problems out!!!

I Have now put it online so you can download it just go to :-

To Download the ASPI FIX !!! [:)]

Laffin Assassin,

I am also having problems with the Philips PCRW804. The problems are similar to those that you say your fix might help. I would therefore greatly appreciate it if you could e-mail me a copy! I cannot find the file on the www-address you specified.

reeB_relliM -> RE: Cure the ASPI Problems with the Philips PCRW804 (6/24/2003 9:57:24 PM)

Hmmmm... I guess I don't understand. I've looked high and low, and all throughout this thread looking for the link. The one link re-directs me to: http://www.zcuk.com/ ...there is nothing there. The second link: ftp://62.67.47.73/ASPIFIX.zip ...is a dead link.

Laffin Assassin - I'm very curious as to why this file is not made easily available? I do understand that it is your personal version, but why not let others have easy access to it? My burner has been down for a week now, simply because I was looking vigorously for a solution to fix this Philips 4801 problem, and was having registration problems to register on this board. Please don't take me the wrong way, I'm just very frustrated. Please send me the file, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks a million!!!
Robin

eureka -> RE: Cure the ASPI Problems with the Philips PCRW804 (6/29/2003 2:04:32 PM)

I'm getting desperate on my Philips

The steps I've taking is running Aspifix (Aspichk returns 4.60), then upgrading to 2.5 (succesful) with Flashtool.
The result is that when I try writing a CDRW is that I get the message "Internal Target Failure". There is no choice for speed: only 2x.
I've read all these symptoms with other users but they succeeded when they ran Aspifix.
I got my Aspifix as a download from stefsom.

The most exciting at the moment is that there is no way to open the drive: when I push eject, or choose this from Explorer the yellow light flashes red and nothing happens.

I hope some nice and important guy can help me.

ttt

...kinda figured that I wouldn't get any responses back on this. It's been a series of dead links and let downs. Why? I'll prolly never understand. It seems that this "ASPI fix" file is being treated much like a top secret and/or classified document, all the links that were given to find the file, are all quite simply "dead links".

Laffin Assassin - With all due respect, what is going on here? I come here for help, just as so many others do. You have made, or obtained a personal ASPI fix file that would help a lot of these peoples CD writing problems, but for some odd reason or another, it's like it is being dangled over everyones heads, almost as if it were being used to tease us. ...I'm sorry, but I just do not understand. If anyone cares to shed some light in the grey areas, please do so.

Thanks a million!!!
reeB_relliM

P.S. As I said, no disrespect intended, but simply calling it as I see it.

OnFire -> RE: Cure the ASPI Problems with the Philips PCRW804 (7/12/2003 8:59:39 PM)

I'm trying to help someone get their 4801 drive working. Initially it had the same problem as some folks have posted here - drive would read cd-rs but didn't recognize cdwr media when came time to burn. After reading the forums I got the Aspi and FlashTool files for him. He did the updates and now the pc spits out an error saying the drive is in use (always). Also his burning software locks up when trying to access the drive (expected that). Other than a cold-boot, deleting/letting xp re-detect the drive, and reinstalling firmware update with anti-virus software off, is there anything that my friend should try? (OS WinXp Pro). His laptop has the same problem (not accepting cdwr media). Suggestions [?]

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Cure the ASPI Problems with the Philips PCRW804 (7/16/2003 5:26:40 AM)

Well the first thing I would suggest is that you try and flash the CDRW with the original Firmware or some of the oldest version you can find and then try it !!! [:)]
