I just picked up a couple of 4824P BenQ drives for about 15 bucks each and wanted to try the K.RC firmware on one to see if it works. I flashed one of them from D.IC to D.LC and the CD-R compatibilty improved a bit. Then I found the D.RC firmware and flashed that. The drive still has some issues with my cheap CD-R media but seems to be better overall. I just tried backing up the D.RC firmware from the drive using mtkflash v1.62 and it seems to have worked. I now have a .bin file of 512KB's. I don't know how to see if it was a successful backup and if the .bin file is good. If it did work, I was hoping I could find someone with a 5224P that has been flashed to K.RC and is willing to provide a .bin file of that firmware to try on my 4824P drive. The firmware from BenQ is in a .exe format and I don't know of another way to convert to the binary file. Thanks for any help offered.

Hi rainallweek,

I am sending you the bin files for D.RC and K.RC to use with MtkWinFlash. After you flash the K.RC bin file then your burner is a 5224P and will flash any of the K.xC exe files successfully. That is how I have been doing it so I did not take the time to seperate out the bin files for the rest of K.xC firmwares. Then you can flash the D.RC bin file to go back to the 4824P if you wish. I don't have the D.IC in an exe or a bin file. I flashed an upgrade to D.RC before I thought to back up the 4824P to get a bin file prior to trying the K.RC bin file. So, I am also sending the D.SC, K.SC and the K.IC exe files to use depending on what your CD-RW thinks it is at the moment... Good luck!

Thanks cptsnoopy for sending me the binary files. I don't need it after all. I use F.FZ.EXE to flask my 4824 into a 5224W and it works. Thanks again!

I have the D.UC bin file that I copied from my 4824P before flashing it to a 5224P. I had already flashed it from D.LC to D.UC before I backed up the firmware. If you want to try it, send me an email and I'll send it to you. I just burned a 603MB ISO in 2:32@48X w/ drive flashed to 5224P using the K.RC bin(cptsnoopy hooked me up!), then flashed to K.UC. I don't have any 52X media yet, but I imagine it should burn @52X. Sorry to hear your having problems, have you tried flashing to K.UC and seeing if it still only burns @12X?

The philips pcrw5224k-drive I have is supposed to be the same as the Benq5224p-drive (see http://www.cdr.cz/rekordery/acer/crw5224p.html). Since the Benq supports cd-mrw with its lates KUC-firmware, I want to try to flash my philips with this firmware. If anyone has the 5224P-firmware, preferably the latest KUC in .bin format, please send it to me.

I have the K-hypermedia drive with number khcrw482448.

Which file should I flash with? I think that F.JZ is the correct one, but could it be K.UC?

I believe that the F.JZ file is for the Benq 4824p and the K.UC file is for the Benq 482448w . . . Is that right or totally crazy?
