Facebook's Instagram Gets Snapchat-like Camera Filters
Facebook's photo-sharing application Instagram is adding yet another signature Snapchat feature: the ability for people to digitally add flower crowns and more to their selfies.
Instagram users will now be able to choose from a range of filters including koala ears that move and twitch as well as math equations that spin to create humorous effects. Other new features include a rewind mode for videos, which will allow users to play video in reverse, and hashtag stickers to visit hashtag pages.
Instagram is the latest Facebook property to add such functionality to its "Stories" feature The company's Stories tool, also borrowed from Snapchat, allows people to post photos or videos of their lives that last for only 24 hours.
Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has said camera tools like face filters will be a major strategy this year as a stepping stone to an augmented reality world.
