Nintendo Wii Mini Coming Next Month: rumor

A mini version of Nintendo's Wii game conslode is reportedly on the way, aiming to provide another way into the Wii's catalogue of games for wallet watching shoppers.

The Wii Mini is set for release as soon as December 7, according to retailer information obtained by Nintendo World Report;

If true, this will mark the second redesign of the Wii console. Last year Nintendo made available a smaller vesion of the Wii device. The Japanese company had also released a redesigned NES and SNES models after their successors had been introduced.

The Wii Mini package is to include a Wii Remote Plus, Nunchuck, and sensor bar, according to the report.

Earlier this month, Nintendo issued an official YouTube app for the legacy Wii device.

A smaller Wii could help Nintendo better cope with the competition from Apple TV and the upcoming Android-based Ouya console.

Nintendo has released the Wii U in North America on November 18 (due in Europe November 30, Japan December 8.)
