Sony Announces New VAIO E, S and Z Series Laptops

Sony is briniging new models of its E, S and Z Series VAIO notebook PCs in Europe.

The company's VAIO E Series 14P is now joined by larger screen models of 39.5 cm (15.5") and 43.8 cm (17.3").

The first model, the VAIO E Series 15 (VAIO SVE1511W1E), is powered by Intel processors, come with generous storage, smooth graphics and high-contrast 39.5 cm (15.5") VAIO Display.

The VAIO E Series 17 (VAIO SVE1711V1E) are boasting a 43.8 cm (17.3") VAIO Display Plus Full HD on selected models, giving users extra screen space.

By closing the laptop's lid, the VAIO E Series goes into a low power deep sleep, keeping data safe for up to ten days. Opening the lid resumes operation. Rapid Wake + Eco ensures the laptop is up and running in moments, with all the files just as they were left.

The new E series also feature a button-free touchpad, a backlit keyboard, built-in HD web camera powered by 'Exmor for PC' along with xLOUD and Clear Phase technologies that boost speaker volume levels.

The VAIO E Series 15 and 17 is available in a choice of white, black or (E Series 15 only) silver colour finishes.

Also annoucned by Sony today, the new VAIO S series is available in a choice of 33.7 cm (13.3") and 39.5 cm (15.5") screen sizes.

VAIO Display Plus features enhanced scratch resistance and an anti-reflective coating to minimise glare. For even richer colours, VAIO Display Premium is also available on S Series 13 models. Larger screen-size S Series 15 models feature a Full HD VAIO Display Plus, offering wide viewing angles.

Other features include a backlit keyboard that's complemented by a 'button-free' touchpad with gesture control along with a new slot-in optical drive (Blu-ray Disc or DVD).

3rd generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processors (on selected S Series 15 models) are partnered by optional SSD storage and NVIDIA GeForce dynamic hybrid graphics. Selected S Series also feature LTE/3G WWAN mobile broadband.

Available as an option, a new docking station for S Series includes an integrated a 500 GB hard disk drive. It offers users automatic back ups of their files automatically. There's also an optional sheet battery that boosts stamina up to 14 hours.

The VAIO Z Series is weighing under 1.2 kg and it's less than 17 mm slim. The fastest ever notebook from Sony, comes with 3rd generation Intel quad-core processors on selected models. They're teamed with latest third-generation SSD Flash RAID drives. Depending on configuration, LTE/3G WWAN connectivity provides fast mobile broadband.

The Power Media Dock on selected models further expands the capabilities of VAIO Z. Users can watch movies on the optical drive, and enjoy even more graphics power plus a simultaneous view of spreadsheets, trading figures on up to four screens.

The 33.2 cm (13.1") Full HD VAIO Display Premium on selected models assures rich colours and a wide viewing angle, while anti-reflective technology cuts distracting reflections when you're working under direct lighting.

Sony's Rapid Wake + Eco technology is available in both new VAIO S Series and Z Series. Both models also offer stamina, with an optional 'sheet' battery that lets users work uninterrupted for up to 14 hours.

The xLOUD and Clear Phase audio technologies are responsible for sound. Alternatively, users are able to switch to Dolby Home Theatre V4 for cinema-style audio via speakers or headphones.
