IKEA To Release Integrated HDTV System

IKEA wants to take over your living room a bit more with the release of its UPPLEVA home entertainment system.

IKEA is teaming up with TCL (RCA) to embed everything within the TV stand itself. The result is a television that is closer to a piece of furniture than a consumer electronics device. The concept includes a TV, sound system and furniture - all in a single body.

The TV's display offers full 1080p HD resolution, 400Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi, 2.1 channel surround sound, and intregrates Blu-ray and DVD players. In addition, a wireless subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the vicinity of the display, according to this video.

UPPLEVA will run for at least $960 and will be available in Europe this year and next Spring in the U.S.
