Toshiba Develops 6.1-inch LCD Panel With 498ppi Resolution

Toshiba Develops 6.1-inch LCD Panel With 498ppi Resolution

Smartphones Oct 20,2011 0

Toshiba Mobile Display today announced the development of a 6.1-inch LCD panel that features a 498 pixels-per-inch (ppi) pixel density in a direct-view and a resolution format of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. This newly high-definition LCD panel is based on Toshiba's processing techniques for forming fine-pitch and high-performance, low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistors (TFT) on glass substrates, and other precise fabrication techniques which have been cultivated over the years. This direct-view LCD panel achieves high-definition images with photographic quality, and although the images are displayed in 2D format, they impart a sense of depth and realism.

The pixel count, contrast ratio and view angle of the new panel are 2,560 x 1,600, 1,000:1 and 176° or broader (in both the vertical and horizontal directions, 10:1 contrast ratio), respectively. It has a 61% color gamut on NTSC standards and can display 16,777,216 colors.

This technology will be exhibited at the TMD booth #3601 in the FPD International 2011 exhibition, to be held in Pacifico Yokohama from October 26 to 28, 2011.
