LG announced today the LG GH22, the company's latest Super-multi DVD burner, which supports recording of a full DVD in just 4:30 minutes, using the 22x recording speed. LG's new drive comes to join Samsung's SH-S223 22x burner, scheduled for release later this summer.

LG's GH22 comes with a 2MB memory buffer coupled with buffer underun technology for reliable burning.

Specifications include 22x writing for DVD-R/+R, 16X for DVD+RW DL, 12x for DVD-R DL and 12x for DVD-RAM.

Its Lightscribe feature allows the GH22 to print images and on the surface of discs while the SecurDisc feature - also met in the company's previous DVD burners - enables secure data protection and content access control when writing data on CD and DVD formats. LG's new GH22 super Multi drive with Security Function offers password encryption, adds a digital signature to all data to allow recipients to verify data authenticity, detects altered data through checksums to verify data integrity and also increases data reliability through redundantly stored data.
