Nvidia nForce 790i Chipset Announced


Nvidia's latest 790i Ultra and 790i chipsets were officially announced today promising to offer top performance for 1600 MHz FSB Intel CPUs, DirectX 10 gaming for Quad SLI technology, and support for 2GHz DDR3 memory.

The successor of Nvidia's 780i chipset for gaming platforms, the 790i series, offers support for 1600 MHz FSB Intel CPUs with extreme CPU overclocking, PCI Express 2.0 and DirectX 10 gaming for 2-way, 3-way and Quad SLI technology. The platform also supports DDR3-2GHz providing record setting memory speeds and component control with ESA.

Moterboards based on the 790i and 790i Ultra chipsets are expected to be available for $350~450.
