Samsung was hit by a class action lawsuit last week, facing alegations of selling its first generation Blu-ray player incapable of playing certain Blu-ray movies. Robert T. McGovern filled the lawsuit dated Feb 5 in the U.S. District Court claiming its Samsung BD-01200 Blu-ray disc player could not play a number of Blu-ray disc titles that he purchased for viewing using his Samsung player.

Attorneys in the case also note Samsung is aware of the incompatibility issues although it does not intend to provide future firmware updates to correct them.

Samsung Electronics of America has not commented on the lawsuit.
