TDK Blu-ray Discs, coming soon

TDK Blu-ray Discs, coming soon

Optical Storage Dec 27,2005 0

TDK will be offering Blu-ray R and RW media in 25GB and 50GB capacities, although no official release date has been set yet.

With the recent press release from Pioneer that it will be shipping its first Blu-Ray Disc Writer, the BDR 101A, at the end of January of 2006, we also find TDK offering Blu-Ray discs in 25GB and 50GB capacities for the R and RW formats. While there is no set release date for the discs, TDK's web site says "Coming soon".

The RW media guarantees 10,000 overwrite cycles and all discs carry the DURABIS2 hard coating protection technology.

DURABIS is TDK's innovative hard coating technology which reinforces and protects the recording surface of its optical disc products. The result of a multi-year development effort, this proprietary technology exemplifies TDK's technological prowess as the recording media leader.

Initially referred to as Super Hard Coating, DURABIS is now the official worldwide name of this breakthrough technology.
