TDK Delivers Camcorder Media For Any Digital Recording Market

8cm Armor Plated Discs and Designer DVC Tapes Set New Standards for Performance, Versatility and Reliability

At CES 2005, TDK, a world leader in digital recording solutions, is exhibiting its new 8cm Armor Plated DVD and Designer DVC digital video tape, advanced recording media products for digital camcorders. By incorporating TDK?s exclusive, super hard coating technology, 8cm Armor Plated DVD provides unprecedented protection against scratches and other factors that can damage standard discs. TDK Designer DVC tapes are supplied in three different colors, imprinted using a unique design process. The vivid colors and designs add a festive twist to captured memories and make it easier to organize a tape collection. Both products join TDK?s complete line of camcorder media solutions, engineered to provide professional-level performance to any videographers.

"Because millions of families depend on TDK media to capture and preserve once in a lifetime memories, we continuously work to develop new ways of enhancing the performance, reliability and overall experience provided by our products," noted Chris Bailey, TDK Director of Recording Media. "To that end, 8cm Armor Plated DVD media eliminates the need for DVD camcorder users to take special precautions when handling their recording media, while the colorful designs of our Designer DVC tapes not only have a festive feel, but also make it easier to quickly spot the right tape when it's in a camcorder bag or stored in a video collection."

8cm Armor Plated DVD: Bit-Accurate Recording and Unmatched Durability

Because the discs are recorded in real-time and frequently must be handled in less than ideal field environments, the new 8cm DVD recordable camcorder format demands tough, reliable recording media. Designed for the new generation of DVD recordable camcorders, including Sony?s Handycam, TDK?s 8cm Armor Plated DVD discs are the ideal solution for any videographer who isn't willing to risk losing once in a lifetime memories. They?re the most damage-resistant recordable DVD discs available?even more durable than commercial video rental DVD discs.

Like TDK?s standard size 12cm Armor Plated DVD media, the 8cm discs provide 100x greater scratch resistance than standard DVD media, as measured in rigorous laboratory testing. By adding proprietary ultraviolet protection, TDK?s 8cm Armor Plated DVD discs also effectively prevent damage from exposure to ultraviolet rays. In fact, TDK 8cm Armor Plated DVD media provides three times greater resistance to damaging UV light than any other DVD media available. 8cm Armor Plated DVD discs are also made to resist fingerprints and dust to further ensure unmatched recording and playback performance. The expanded 8cm DVD recordable media lineup embodies TDK?s ongoing commitment to providing the widest range of DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW discs for every application.

Designer DVC: Pristine Performance with a Colorful Twist

You don?t vacation in a boring suit, so why take boring camcorder media on your vacation? With TDK Designer DVC media for MiniDV camcorders, every memory has a colorful twist. TDK Designer DVC is the ideal camcorder media for capturing the family vacation, your child's big game, an important birthday and all other occasions where color is better than drab. Three different color Designer DVC tapes make it easy to find your favorites.

In addition to its eye-catching looks, TDK Designer DVC offers top performance. An ultra-smooth base layer and precision constructed cartridge provide exceptional tape stability, while an exclusive recording material formulation ensures vivid, lifelike images and clear, high-resolution audio. Like all TDK recording media, Designer DVC tapes are manufactured to the industry's highest standards of recording and playback performance.

Rated for recording at up to 2x speed, TDK?s new 8cm Armor Plated DVD media with UV protection is currently available in the DVD-R format for an estimated street price of $8.99 each. 8cm Armor Plated DVD-RW media without UV protection is available at an estimated street price of $11.99 each. Designer DVC media is available at an estimated street price of $24.99 per 3-pack.
