ATI Taiwan: Shipments of consumer-electronics chips rocket 215% on-year


Shipments of ATI Technologies consumer-electronics related chips, mainly for handsets, HD TVs and set-top boxes grew 215% on-year in the September-November period (first quarter of fiscal 2005) of this year.

In addition, ATI's proportion of consumer-electronics related chips to its overall business surpassed 10% in the same period.

For its PC chipsets, ATI claimed 59% of the global discrete-graphics-chip market in the third quarter of this year, citing data released by Mercury Research.

ATI also held 55% of the desktop-use discrete-graphics-chip market and 72% of the notebook-use discrete-graphics-chip segment.
