BenQ launches first webcam-enabled LCD monitors in the Middle East

BenQ launches first webcam-enabled LCD monitors in the Middle East

Consumer Electronics Nov 25,2004 0

BenQ has unveiled what it calls 'the next generation of multimedia LCD monitors', with the introduction of five new models in the Middle East, including three with detachable webcams and SRS surround speakers ? a first for the Middle East. The family of four 17-inch monitors plus the impressive 23-inch wide screen comprise BenQ's largest ever LCD monitor launch in the Middle East. They are designed for home users, gamers, and professionals who need to display a large amount of information with crystal clear clarity.

Features include Senseye technology, which provides better picture sharpness, contrast and clarity than other models available in the region, and composite video inputs, allowing users to connect the monitor to notebook PCs, DVD players, and satellite receivers.

'This is the most comprehensive range of LCD monitors we have ever introduced in the Middle East, and this launch heralds a new age in computing display technology,' said Manish Bakshi, general manager, BenQ Middle East. 'The market for LCD monitors is now worth more than traditional CRT displays, and BenQ is a leader in the production and supply LCD technology.'

International analysts IDC recorded worldwide revenues for LCDs of over $US20 billion in 2003, while CRTs revenues were valued at $US12.3 billion.

Consumers in the Middle East have been turning to LCD monitors, because unlike CRT displays they emit no radiation and offer stronger visuals. BenQ's stylish design features, and their space saving functionality, have also been a key factor in increasing demand for LCD displays in the region.

The highlight of the new offerings is BenQ's 17-inch wide FP783 LCD monitor, which received the Best Design Award from the prestigious Business Week magazine. The unit has a butterfly-design base, 600:1 contrast ratio, and comes with a detachable webcam and SRS surround sound and USB ports.

BenQ's 17-inch FP71W LCD monitor has an 800:1 contrast ratio, 1280x768 WXGA resolution and 450 cd/m2 brightness. It has two PC and two video inputs, and also comes with a webcam and surround speakers, so users can communicate more effectively over the internet.

The FP71E, has 500:1 contrast ratio, and 1280x1024 SXGA resolution. The FP785 has 1280x1024 SXGA resolution and D sub and DVI inputs. All three models come with Senseye technology.

The 23-inch wide FP231W has 500:1 contrast ratio, and 1900 x 1200 UXGA resolution, and can display two A4 pages side-by-side. A webcam and SRS surround speakers comes as standard.

'As an innovator of LCD monitor technology, BenQ now has an information display option for every user,' said Bakshi. 'This is a wide-ranging portfolio of products, which we expect will appeal to people across the Middle East as they upgrade from their traditional CRT monitors.'
