ORIGINAL: betamac Anyway as i just made a HCPC i needed a small drive so as the plextor was on 170mm i bought one Now i have installed it on my Nforce 4 Motherboard and it will not write ATALL It will read dvds and cds fine, rip them, to hard drive no problems When i write Either DATA, ISO IMAGE or anything else it goes through the write no problems says successful and the disk has been written to BUT when i try to read back its shown as empty, if i put in DVD player (EG a DVD movie) it says cannot play disk I have used NERO, DVD Decrypter and Plextors Tools all the same So i thought maybe something wrong with Nforce 4 IDE so i put my old Pioneer 107 as the slave drive and what you know writes everything perfect every time So what am i doing wrong i have never bought a writer and had these problems before, i thought i was buying a top quality drive as well Oh yeh the media i am using is Datawrite FUJI Dye and Verbatim MCC Dye for DVD-R and Traxdata CD-R so not cheap media Thanks in advance Your problem may be a "CD and DVD Errors" problem in Windows! And from what I've been told MS has issued a patch for the problem. So, check here CD drive or DVD drive errors Also, look through these: MS Support CD and DVD Errors
