I want to help you, but everyone's PC is configured so differently! And there are sooo many variables in your case senario that I'm reluctant to take a stab at your problem. But tell us which drive you have: Plextor TLA 0000 or TLA 0202? And we can work from there.

hello
I am new to this forum, and I just would love to ask you a question. do you know why my new plextor drive with firmware 1.03 can only achieve a maximum read speed while ripping dvds of only 2.3x? the drive is a tla 0202 or something by that, I have upgraded to firmware 1.03; was that a mistake? is it possible to flash back? because it annoys me that a dvd 16x can only rip at a very bad speed of 2.3x..
if you can answer I thank you.
I am using windows 2000 service pack 4, dma is enable, plextool is uninstalled.

What if you unistall the IDE channel you have the drive and then reboot? It is possible to be locked.

Welcome btw.

TLA 0203

Thanks

The drive reads perfectly, ripps a DVD at super fast speeds.

But wont burn a single working DVD or CD

Its driving me mad as right now i have my old Pioneer 107 Sat on top of my HCPC case plugged in for the time being until i can get the plextor to write

Anyway as i just made a HCPC i needed a small drive so as the plextor was on 170mm i bought one

Now i have installed it on my Nforce 4 Motherboard and it will not write ATALL

It will read dvds and cds fine, rip them, to hard drive no problems

When i write Either DATA, ISO IMAGE or anything else it goes through the write no problems says successful and the disk has been written to BUT when i try to read back its shown as empty, if i put in DVD player (EG a DVD movie) it says cannot play disk

I have used NERO, DVD Decrypter and Plextors Tools all the same

So i thought maybe something wrong with Nforce 4 IDE so i put my old Pioneer 107 as the slave drive and what you know writes everything perfect every time

So what am i doing wrong i have never bought a writer and had these problems before, i thought i was buying a top quality drive as well

Oh yeh the media i am using is Datawrite FUJI Dye and Verbatim MCC Dye for DVD-R and Traxdata CD-R

so not cheap media

Thanks in advance

Your problem may be a "CD and DVD Errors" problem in Windows! And from what I've been told MS has issued a patch for the problem. So, check here CD drive or DVD drive errors

Also, look through these: MS Support CD and DVD Errors

Nope makes no difference

Although i dont see how it could be a problem with windows considering the Pioneer 107 works flawlessly on same PC in fact same IDE channel

A Drive that costs less than half as much as the Plextor which is very annoying, would use the 107 but like i said wont fit in my HCPC unfortunetly

In PlexTools pro, make sure you have AUTOSTRATEGY Unchecked. I had the same problem until I did this. But after getting some quality media, putting the check back was okay, it just didn't like my cheap media.
