NEC 25x0a or HP420i

hehehe get one after the review , that is funny, nec 2500 and hp420i are 100% identical nec makes both they differ by fw only.

I know i post this already...but
If one NEC drive is change to an HP drive by firmware (2510 to HP420).
Then Could we use the HP420i fix : "dvdbitset.exe" for the NEC2510a ?
Then return the drive to the original NEC firmware.
since its the same hardware it should work no ?

Maybe this is not making any sens....

why would want to do stupid thing like that 2510a is not hp420i the 2510a is hp520i you want to use fw 2.21 not fw 1.28 and yes if you flash the hp fw on 2510a it will work with a bitsetting program I personally use dvdinfo pro to bitset HP fw but and this is the but , HP fw does not over clock any media , on the other hand the stock 2510a fw 2.15 over clocks a number of media to 6x or 8x even though its 4x
Also the stock 2510a fw has much better write strategys then HP 520i fw does.

I don't imagine HP utility will work with the NEC2510A, for +R media. The NEC2510A review almost finished, there was last minute changes, the DL Bitsetting utility, Ritek's DL media, which should included before posting the review online.

(Was going to buy the drive in a few hours )

I was going for the HP420i drive only because of the booktype fix...

hey you Minos (what does it mean anyway) stop making fun of my Great name
It was that, or "uniautologin" that I use at some other forum

BTW As i type this i click send on an order to get me a brand new retail HP420i drive, some 21 verbatim DVD+R, and a stress ball !!! .

I have already 15 DVD-R Verbatim and 25DVD-R Maxell, because i have read somewhere that DVD-R are more compatible with DVD drives bah anyway going to use them one day for data or other stuff, it not a loss (got them very cheap so).
