Yup! Go for it! Everybody get voting! I'll be contacting NEC today concerning this. We need a good, free tool for both single layer and dual layer bitsetting in my opinion! [:D]

While we're at it, why not send the results in to LG and Pioneer too! (don't bother making another poll even, just let them see this one! [8D]) Why would anyone not want a bitsetting tool? Oh yeah, I say this as the owner of an NEC-2500a [:D]

i believe that nec will be forced to release a booktype utility. When users will buy other companies' drives because of booktype change support, they will go with the flow... DL is practically useless without bitsetting utility support...

That is correct, NEC Europe also said that the Booktype utility is not theirs...

booktype setting is one of the main reasons I look at getting a drive. along with quality ofcourse. regarding to dl media, what is quality if there is no compatibility.

With the WinBType utility you can set the BookType setting for DVD+R DL media but not for DVD+R...

When are we going to get the DVD+R booktype patch for 2510 official ? As I may as well go for the 2500 with the upgraded hack firmware, than the 2510 and downgrade the firmware to the 2500. Downgrade is not a logical option even if it's better, upgrades is the way to go [8\|]

So many questions [;)] The DL fix is nice, but movie backup are going on DVD+R as on now anyway... Could we use the HP420i fix : "dvdbitset.exe" for the NEC2510a ? Because I'm going to get me an HP420i if not... (and upgrade to DL firmware once media is cheaper, then again) PS is there a reason why the NEC2510 review is not up yet? It look suspiscious to me... having problem with the drive ? (Because like I said i was waiting for that review to choose NEC 25x0a or HP420i). Thanks
