Emperor:

Helluva job you do. You mentioned the DOS flashing works all the time. I have the NEC 2500A (flashed with commercially available NEC software to 107) and now I am wondering what would be the syntax for doing under a DOS window? The included instructions aren't that clear that the Dangerous Brothers supplied. I mean I see the ORIG.bin and then the FAST & RPC1 bins. Which should I use to give me the most features for this drive and also getting back to my original question is since I have a Pioneer 107D (slave) and the NEC2500A (master) what would the syntax be? Don't want to flash my Pioneer drive (or my 2 HDs for that matter) in my PC. The Windows flasher by Harrier did not seem to work for me as when I put a disk in the NEC drive it could not read it so I flashed back to to NEC's commercial release and it copied a CD fine.

Could ya provide some guidance please. TIA

First you need to know where you have installed your NEC 2500A.

Assuming you have installed the drive at Secondary IDE channel as MASTER you should type:

A:>NEC2x00A.EXE -sec -mas -flash filename.bin

In case the drive is installed at Secondary IDE Challe as SLAVE

A:>NEC2x00A.EXE -sec -sla -flash filename.bin

As for which firmware to use i guess the one with the widest features (RPC1+Fast). I would suggest also using Herrie's firmware that include improved writing strategies for many DVD media

Does the Bitstetting really work? I burned several DVD using DVDShrink and DVDInfoPro always shows "DVD-R" as booktyp. Even though I told DVDSHrink to write the bit.

You need to activate Booktype before burning with a software like DVDInfoPro

Emperor:

Used Harrier's Beta 5 version, rebooted PC and everything seems fine. Am able to burn DVDs (Memorex 4x, DL Idunno) and Driveinfo22 says the drive is region free. Now if I could only get my hands on DVDInfoPro.

Thanks for all your help.

Has someone confirmed you can bitset with this update? I was going to hold off on Updating till more reports came in on burning DL disks, but I'd love if I can set the Booktype to DVD-ROM for +R Disks for greater compatibility. Has anyone done this?
