The HP LS drive is made by LiteON not BenQ

ok you were correct, i opened the HP drive and its a BenQ OEM, sorry about that, LIteON supposed to make the HP drives...

I'm a newbie, but I've found some cool stuff. There's a couple of auctions on eBay for HP External LightScribe burners, and the auction description is full of details. The company says they've taken apart the HP external burner and inside is definitely a BenQ. They have posted a pic of the label. Here's the link to both auctions.

a person who buys one of these for that high a price just has money to burn. albeit an internal drive, these HP drives can be had at wally world for 99 bux. they also have a supply of lightscribe cdrs also..

even though it's a benq, it's been touched by hp, those slimy spineless creatures. the damage has been done and the bad smell can't be removed.
so benq have made the drives, have their own label but noooo... hp has to be the first one to release them. hp will be making money from the licenses of lightscribe anyway and they are only damaging their profits by throttling the ramp up of lightscribe by disallowing drive makers to release their drives before them.

btw, where are the dvd-r lightscribe media?

we have both the HP /BenQ and PHilips LS drives, hopefully soon kogos will post the review, as for DVD-R LS media...they should be released somewhere the next 1-2 months

1-2 months seems reasonable, just hope it isn't a paper launch
and i didn't know philips was releasing an ls drive, almost forgot they were in the ls bandwagon at all

all drives that currenlty supporting LS technology come from BenQ...we will post the review soon
