This is the error that I get when I try to run FlashTool, but the weird thing is that
I have _already_ installed ASPI!

"In order to be able to flash the drive to the new firmware, Adaptec's Aspi needs to be installed first.

Please shut down this flashtool. Install Aspi and reboot your system."

Hi goanuj
I have just e-mailed you a zip file
It is only 249k.
Just unzip it into a folder and follow the instructions and that should cure your problems.

Ihope this helps

Hey, well I did try it and it worked, but I am sick and tired of my philips CDRW, I just bought a 24x10x40x 24102B Lite-On CDRW drive and though I haven't burned anything with it, the playback quality is enormous and it spins discs up and down much better than the crappy Philips 8x4x32 so if anyone wants to buy this CDRW drive, drop me a line, I live in the Bay Area in California.

joozju -> RE: Philips PCRW804 (6/28/2002 4:04:20 PM)

I'm experiencing the same problem described. I updated the ASPI layer to version 4.71 (Windows XP) which I downloaded from Adaptec and used the Flashtool from Philips to update the Firmware (currently version 2.0) for my PCRW804K. The Flashtool still demands that I install Adaptec's ASPI. What is my next step?

I read about a 249kB file in previous postings that could solve my problem. Is there a possibility to include that file as a link on this forum so that others can benefit as well?

Thanks,
Joozju

Hi joozju
No I am sorry I cannot as it is on my personal hard-drive !
But I have just e-mailed it to you being the helpfull guy I am.
And all you have to do is unzip it into a folder on your Hard-drive and then carefully follow the Instructions text file that will be in the folder !
I hope this helps !
