After have already being tested the PS2 HD Loader, a new software came and offers interesting features. Its name is HDL Dumb and will recognize under Windows PS2 HDD formatted discs and either delete or install games, making our life much easier...

We tested the 0.4 version, below is a short guide, how looks like and how works, enjoy!

PS, you can download the software from our website, since its very HARD to find around , click at the below link

First of all you need to have attached to PC a PS2 HDD disk, probably already formatted from PS2 HD Loader, either you will get the following error message:

After installing the PS2 HDD, the software will open and from there you can easily understand what to do...

We can easily delete a pre-installed game and free up some space for our tests...

The game will be deleted almost instandly...Now lets try to install a backup disc of the game "The Great Escape", the installation done by the PS2 HD Loader (with pressed original disc) worked just fine...

After selecting the cd0 drive, the software automatically selects the DVD-ROM disc type, recognizes the disc capacity and fills up the Game Name/Signature...Just press "install" and after ~9mins (depending from the reader), the disc would be installed at the PS2 HDD drive.

The real question now is if...this worked with an un-modded PS2 concole!

The answer is YES, we installed a backup PS2 disc, with the HDL Dumb software and played without any problem at our PS2 console. Remember you still need the PS2 HD Loader disc to boot up...

This is also the only way to install DVD9 games, the v1.00 of PS2 HD Loader doesn't support them.

Hopefully newer HDL Dumb versions will add many new features

Hi Lennox and welcome to our forums, you have to buy a HDD that will fit with the network adapter, (grab a 120GB Maxtor/Seagate, work 100%), you install the HDD to the network adapter, and then to PS2. After using the HD Loader, the HDD would be formatted, so you can remove the HDD from the PS2, install as normal HDD to the PC (either MASTER/SLAVE) and use the HDL Dumb or WinHIIPsoftware!

Let me know how it goes

Don't mean to sound stupid, but after installing this program I would then re-insert the hard drive in to the ps2 again. And finally will the hard drive work differently in the ps2 after its been connected to the pc already. What I mean by this is do I have to install this program right away when I first format the hard drive? Or can I install a few non-dvd 9 games and then take the hard drive out and put it in the pc and dump the HDL Dump app on? I have never really done anything like this before, is it that hard to install a hard drive and set it to all these settings and such(slave and master)? Any installtion links you may have would be great. And finally, I'm I able to delete these dvd 9 games with the standard hd loader deletion process? I just don't want to have to keep installing a hard drive into my computer all the time to get games. Is this a one time thing where I just install the app and then the dvd 9's will be read fine on the hd loader, or everytime I want a dvd-9 game I need to install the hard drive back into the computer. If not, I will adapt. Lastly, I have a standard dvd rom and cd drive, I don't need a dvd writer to recognize the games right? The first attachment is the full program right? I am sorry if I am sounding stupid. Just want to do everything correctly. Please do not give up on me.

I appreciate it your help.

Thanks.

Its so easy, you install the HDD to PS2, use HD-Loader to format, and then you can either install the HDD to PC and transfer from CD/DVD media to HDD or install CD/DVD games

>is it that hard to install a hard drive and set it to all these settings and such(slave and master)?

Very easy

>I'm I able to delete these dvd 9 games with the standard hd loader deletion process?

The standard HD Loader doesn't allow DVD9 to be installed

No you need to install the PS2 HDD everytime you need to install a new game, unless you connect the PS with network cable with PC, but you would have to use a special software for this, maybe other members can give such information

You can grab DVD Decrypter and make an ISO image of the disc, then try to transfer the disc to the PS2 HDD with any of those software
