Pioneer To Launch Seven New Models of DVD-based Car Navigation System

Pioneer To Launch Seven New Models of DVD-based Car Navigation System

Consumer Electronics Sep 28,2004 0

Offering advanced abilities both in car navigation and A/V functions with its traditional concept of "easy operation and high performance"

September 27, 2004, Tokyo, Japan - Pioneer Corporation announced today that new DVD-based "Raku-Navi" car navigation systems will be introduced between late October and late November. The new series comes in 7 models including two 2-DIN A/V-integrated navigation systems, one in-dash monitor type system, two on-dash systems, and two rear monitor set systems. The rear monitor systems come with the monitor and remote controller for use in the rear seats. All TVs in this series (except rear monitors) are wide-screen and touch-panel TVs "Do monitor."

The total monthly production for the new "Raku-Navi" series will be 27,000 units. Their suggested retail prices range from \147,000 to \241,500 (including tax).

With its traditional concept of "easy operation and high performance," the new series offers high functionality and performance in navigation with the unsurpassed positioning accuracy owing to the "IQ High Precision" technology, as well as high-quality audio/video performances. The users can easily and fully enjoy it via instinctive control of the touch panel, ease-to-use, stylish remote controller, and voice-control functions. The two high-end models (AVIC-DRZ90/DRZ90K) have "Memory CD" function, which records up to an equivalent of eight CDs in the long play mode*1. The songs stored in the memory can be played back with high-quality sound even during navigation.

Pioneer new "Raku-Navi" series also provides the following convenient new functions and features:

  • "Map Clip" (industry's first*2) imports the map displayed on the TV monitor to the user's cell phone by utilizing the two dimensional bar code*3. This is particularly useful when users have to walk from the parking area to the destination after leaving the car.
  • "Genre Word Search" helps users to easily look up a genre of destination by simply inputting a related word. When users don't know the right genre of the location or spot they are looking for, this new function can introduce them to the right genre smoothly and appropriately.
