Dell Brings OLEDs to Laptops With New XPS 15 Model

Dell Brings OLEDs to Laptops With New XPS 15 Model

PC components Jun 22,2019 0

Dell's first OLED XPS laptop is ready to launch on Thursday June 27.

The 15.6-inch XPS 15 7590 comes with a 4K Ultra HD (3,840-by-2,160) OLED display and of course brings all the benefits of OLED technology, including perfect blacks for significantly higher contrast. With pixels are completely turned off when not required, the laptop could potentially offer some additional battery life compared to LCD models. The XPS 15 7590 also offers a wide color range (100% DCI-P3), Dolby Vision content can deliver highlights up to 40 times brighter and blacks up to 10 times darker, according to Dell.

The XPS 15 7590 is powered by the latest 9th Generation Intel Core processors with up to 8 cores and up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics.

Other specs include:

  • Killer AX1650 networking hardware, which is built into Intel's WiFi 6 chipset
  • Up to 64GB of memory
  • Up to 2TB PCIe SSD

Like all XPS designs, it sports a very thin top bezel, CNC machined aluminum and carbon fiber construction and Gorilla Glass.

Pricing for the XPS 15 starts at $999 but a fully-fledged XPS 15 7590 with an OLED display will be considerably more.

Hewlett-Packard has also released a Spectre x360 15 with an OLED touch display.
