I personally replaced an older Fujitsu MHV2060BH 60GB 5400RPM SATA 2.5" hard drive in my laptop that had an average read speed in HD Tune of 32MBps. By moving to the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB Hard Drive my storage space more than tripled and performance went up 59% as the average read speed it now 51MBps. Not a bad deal considering one of these drives can be purchased online for just $54.99 plus shipping. It is hard to believe that when this drive was released in 2007 that it retailed for over $200...

Notebook users have always been saddled with slow hard drives, all in the name of battery conservation. Even expensive, performance-grade notebook hard drives that spin at 7200 RPM cannot even come close to the performance of cheap desktop hard drives. That may change with the new Seagate Momentus 7200.2 hard drive. This hard drive boasts 60% greater capacity and 28.8% better sustained transfer rate than its predecessor. But that's not all. It even comes with an integrated free-fall sensor that greatly increases its survivability during accidental falls. Talk about combining performance with robustness.

The Seagate Momentus 7200.2 160GB SATA Hard Drive model ST9160823ASG offers strong performance for a 2.5" form factor drive, and manages to do so while remaining cool and quiet. The testing portion of the review confirmed the performance and low temperature operation, but what has not yet been mentioned is that the drive is very quiet. The specifications indicate that it produces between 2.5 and 2.9 bels between idle and load, and although that might not mean much to many people out there, it translates to whisper quiet.
